The Basement

Long ago, the family who lived in this house refused to speak of the basement. Neighbors whispered that something evil had been locked away beneath the floorboards—a restless spirit that grew stronger with every year of silence. Strange noises, sudden chills, and shadows that moved against the light all seemed to trace back to one place: the basement. When the family suddenly vanished without explanation, the house stood abandoned for decades. No one dared to enter. Now, the basement door has opened again. You and your group have been summoned here by an old ritual book found in the ruins of the house. According to its pages, the spirit trapped below has almost broken free. Unless it is banished tonight, it will rise and claim the living. The ritual must be performed in the basement—the very place where the ghost was bound. To complete it, you must search the room for the scattered pieces of the ritual: sigils, relics, incantations, and offerings that once held the spirit in chains. But the ghost is aware of your presence. It will twist your senses, hide what you seek, and try to frighten you away before the ritual can be finished. Time is short. If you succeed, the ghost will be banished back into darkness forever. If you fail… the basement becomes your tomb, and the spirit walks free.
