388 escape rooms
This Civil War room had good ideas, some smart puzzles, and adherence to an uncommon theme for escape rooms. The set is alright, but the room design is way off. You start off in a big, mostly empty room. And then there is a complete mess of a room that is somewhat vertical. There is a constant need to crawl into dark spaces that are impossible to see anything in without the single lantern, or climb up into tiny lofts with almost no space. Weβre not huge people and we could barely fit. There is also a dresser prop that is not even at all functional. There are such good ideas, and I liked the puzzles, even one that I just know that people will probably hate. But the frustration of navigating this super awkward space brought the experience down. Big groups be warned.

Ehhhhh, not my favorite. I think a lot of the traffic is due to the location. We only went because Obama went. Don't recommend.

A pretty okay room. There are some quality of life improvements that could be made including better lighting. Some of the puzzles are quite tedious and include morse code. The staff and GMs are wonderful!

So I've done about 30+ rooms at this point, and this was the first room where we failed. I wouldn't be frustrated with failing a room if it was due to extra challenging puzzles, but we got stuck on a puzzle that was not remotely intuitive (if anything, it goes against what you may presume from having done prior escape rooms), and admitedly our GM even said he got stuck on the same puzzle, yet when we asked for hints for the specific puzzle in question (3 hints!!! For one puzzle!) we weren't given adequate information to help us figure it out. We're a smart bunch. We've done some more intense, logical games and have come out with time to spare, but with a game like this where the puzzles are a little all over the place, the hints aren't that useful, and they have a challenging puzzle that doesn't make sense, it's hard to give this room much credit. Additionally, there was another puzzle after that which is a little messy and makes solving it more confusing. I'm speaking in vagueries so as to not give anything away, but all in all, I was unimpressed and actually quite disappointed with this game.
