Temporarily Closed - The Legend of Lizzie is based on the true, unsolved murder of Abbie and Andrew Borden in 1892. Hacked to death by a hatchet, Andrew’s daughter Lizzie was the primary suspect. Although Lizzie Borden was eventually acquitted, the killer was never found. You and your team are visiting the Lizzie Borden house museum with a mission to find out what happened before it gets demolished in just 60 minutes. Will you finally solve this century-old case? Or will you be the next one axed?

This room was our least favorite out of the three rooms we did (The Butcher, The Cabin and Lizzy Borden). We enjoyed the room except for a couple of the puzzles could be implemented slightly different to make more sense. The GM gave us nudges to help us get through them but IMO they didn't make sense without the nudge.

This is a fun room. A little spooky but not too much. A younger child might think it is spooky. I would recommend any room here.

Oh Lizzie, you had so so much potential. There were a few unique elements that we loved to see. Especially since this was one of our first ones in our renewed enthusiast era. The final room had a interaction that was perfectly parts eerie and exciting! We wish the rest of the room had been at that caliber. It's hard to not recommend this company because when compared with their competition, Escape Artist blows this out of the water in terms of set and puzzle design, but it doesn't make this something to completely forget about. I heard the Stephanie Baker room is better, and I'm still curious to try that one. But overall, I wasn't super impressed with this one. And for the price...I would say go do Escape Artists instead if you only have the budget for one.

It’s worth noting that Lizzie was our very first room, and since your visit, it has been significantly updated with over 50% new gameplay, more tech-based interactions, and refreshed set and story elements. So the experience now is quite different from the early version you saw. We do appreciate your perspective on comparisons, though we do want to clarify that comparing our very first build to rooms created years later by any company isn’t always a direct match in terms of evolution, resources, or design era. Our Stephanie Baker room is one of our newest at our newer location, and we think it better represents where our design style is today. We always strive to grow, improve, and create memorable experiences, and feedback like yours is part of that ongoing process. We’d love to host you again should you choose to return and explore what our newest games have to offer. 🗝️✨

This was our first experience with Trapped in the Upstate and the owner was very hospitable with a clear passion for escape rooms. Room was older, however, the puzzles were unique and everything worked well. It was a great first room that wasn’t scary (spooky theme).
