The Hawaiian islands take you back in time, and, it is said once in a blue moon, you have the chance to discover something special. On one of those mystical nights, the energy can buzz through the night air and transport you somewhere else… sometime else... into one of the greatest minds the earth has ever known... Nikola Tesla! Match wits with the genius and he will relinquish his secret patent! Tesla’s Inheritance is a 60 minute escape room set in a Victorian themed escape room in New York.

I enjoyed the other rooms at Maui Escape Room, but this one just barely escapes a thumbs down rating for me. The ending is cute and there are a couple of okay puzzles in the room, but there are two puzzles at the beginning that simply didn’t click with us, ate up a ton of time, and I didn’t feel like they were well executed or intuitive. If you’re not going to play all of the games here, I’d skip this one and go for any of the other three.

This was probably my least favorite room at Maui Escape Rooms, it had some fun aspects, some decent enough set design but a large majority of the puzzles just didn’t click for our group and just ended up eating a lot of time and leading to some significant frustration.

Can’t begin to tell you how cool this room is. If we did a room over it would be this one. Loved it. Not scary and smaller room so 4 is a good number.

The thumbs down was not due to game play but the booking process. I am not a fan of tiered pricing but I do understand and have come to accept it is a bad but wide spread business model. The real issue is the built in gratuity in the booking process. I leave tips and have been known to leave as much as the game cost itself, but to be forced without knowing the level of service is ridiculous. In Tesla it allowed me to zero out the gratuity and I am glad I did. The game master was not paying attention to the game and let 1:30 run off the clock after the game was won. A small thing indeed but that is a small thing that affects the gratuity. As I said Tesla let me zero it out in the process. However, I was going to book a second game for tomorrow and it would not let me skip the gratuity. So there are way to many options in Maui to fret over another escape room. The mandatory 5% gratuity cost a customer. This is on top of the $60 per person room. So on to some other activity.
Game play flowed well and although a couple of puzzles were not intuitive the game itself was good
Good decor

Great little room. Their easiest. Only complaint is I wish it were longer, but that’s expected at this difficulty level.
