Kind of a mixed experience. Great pirate atmosphere, and some fun puzzles, including a few with sense of humor that is rare in escape rooms. However, one physical challenge took too long and only involved one member of our party while everybody else watched, and the final puzzle was glitchy. If Morty had a “mixed” option, I’d choose that— but since I did have fun, despite the room’s flaws, I’m giving it a thumbs up.
I wish Morty had a “neutral” option. The first few puzzles were fun and the very first puzzle made me laugh, which is rare in an escape room. But there’s one big physical challenge that outstayed its welcome; it could have been simplified to keep the focus on the fun aspect, rather than a frustratingly arbitrary aspect.
Fun pirate theming. Good use of tech, music, and sound.
Welcome was friendly and helpful but afterwards, it felt like we were being rushed out— even though we had escaped with 17 minutes still on the clock so there was ample time for a reset! Also, we had a problem with the final puzzle; we entered the correct solution several times before it registered. GM didn’t seem terribly fussed or apologetic about it. Afterward, I looked up a review from several years ago and it complained about exactly the same thing. So this is an ongoing problem that Breakin just can’t be bothered to fix.
