A greenish light shines through the stained glass windows of the solid wood doors that lock behind you. You feverishly try to open the door again, but to no avail. You let your eyes shyly explore space. An old wooden counter, a dull gold luggage trolley with suitcases, a broken piano, an elevator ... You are in the lobby of The Honeymoon Hotel. Behind a door that apparently leads to the bridal suite there is a thumping sound, suddenly the light goes out ...

I swear this company is owned by fans of American Horror Story, but even if this isn’t the case, AHS fans: rejoice (they also have a Freak Show room which is totally worth it). It’s a story based on the infamous killer H.H. Holmes which is simply a brilliant pull for a horror room considering that guy was *the worst.* Anyway, we had a good time in here. Building on the foundation of a disturbing real life story, there was a very strong set, most puzzles fit neatly within the narrative, and there were a few killer special effects. While most of the room is spooky, there are some scares and the name “DarkPark” should give you an indication about their feelings towards lighting. If you don’t have time for all of DarkPark’s rooms, do The End. This is a no-brainer (if you know, you know). After that, we think this and Orphanage are a toss up and depend more on which theme you prefer. Everyone says The End is their scariest room, but we found Orphanage scarier, with Honeymoon Hotel the least scary. Our scare threshold is probably relatively low compared to horror seekers. We can’t handle anything that assaults us with scares, and none of their rooms do that. Escape Couple rating: 5 🗝️: Excellent room with wow factors (we use a 1-6🗝️ rating scale)
Overall a well integrated story with effects, set and puzzles to match.
Definitely creepy, very good set with some killer touches.
Every GM at this company is a delight
Yes
Personally love the narrative and saw a few effects we’ve never experienced.
Great historical reference and most puzzles neatly fit the theme.

Experienced escapers may find it a bit easy, but there’s plenty to do.

We were totally fine with 2 and there were some tight spaces
Scary
While overall the room is spooky, there are some scary elements, including a couple jump scares. Must be comfortable with the dark.

One short stretch of crawling
Accessible to most people. A couple times stepping over something and one short crawl.

A traditional spooky theme but really well executed. A couple of the spaces were really surprising and creative. A couple memorable puzzles. Really fun to play. Though I would prioritize The End at same location if u must choose.

My third one at Dark Park. Again, it did not disappoint. Good amount of puzzles and challenging enough for a group of 6 to finish with only a little bit over a minute to spare. Nice effects and theme. It had a few jumpy moments, but most of the experience was not really scary. Recommended for newbies and experienced players.

This is one of the view rooms or maybe even the only room in which everything ticked all the boxes. Gameplay and gameflow were great, atmosphere was indeed if you were in a hotel and puzzles were really there to support the game. The puzzles could be easily be part of the hotel. It wasn't that the puzzles have been put there to have some puzzles in it. Fun, some jumpscares and the bed was very nice, even as the bathroom.
In the beginning we were treated -let's say- interesting but that is part of the game already, once you've entered the building.

It stood out from the rest of the rooms that we've played.

We did it with 2 players and that was just perfect for us. It was scary but not too bad for either of us, it was tense and thematic. We had a blast 9/10

The Honeymoon Hotel shows that even at their most traditional, DarkPark knows how to tell a compelling story through gameplay. It’s a real treat watching this game unfold, with several cool effects and interesting environments.
Some frustrating moments, but mostly solid classic gameplay
Really nails the H.H. Holmes look and feel, with some incredible effects and set design

It’s really fun, but still a very traditionally stylized game.
The story is felt rather than told, and it’s all the more immersive for it.

Some spikes, but a lot of plateaus of moderate gameplay
Mechanical
Some tech including some impressive effects, but a lot of locks, too.

Schon etwas gruselig aber kann man auch gut mit "Angsthasen" spielen. Die Rätsel nicht ganz so schwer, weil man sich mehr auf den Nervenkitzel konzentriert.

A well-themed and atmospheric room, with a good sense of progression throughout. This was the first room for a couple of our players, and they were able to contribute alongside more established puzzlers. With six players, some folks occasionally felt like they didn’t have much to do, but other than that, it was a great experience!
“... though: this was one of the very best games I’ve played, and I came out buzzing.“
