The old manor house is entwined with local legend, the living don’t remember the Nethercott’s, the family’s hay day was long ago. Local folk talked, whispers were heard, rumours began, lights were seen within. The Nethercott’s are long gone but something remains, an essence, a smell, a feeling, it’s in the fabric, in the walls, under the floor boards … it ticks, it creeks … take a trip into the past, uncover the family’s many secrets and glimpse their fleeting souls?

It was a game I had heard a lot about before playing but I really didn’t enjoy this room. The puzzles felt really clunky and the scares in the game really hampered our ability to progress. I think in general it was just not a game flow I gelled well with, I’ve played other games here that are great but I wouldn’t recommend this. It also wasn’t helped by the host wouldn’t walk us through the rest of the game when we lost. Instead we were offered 50% off to come back, even though we’d completed 75% of the game?! We’re not locals so that wasn’t an option and it meant the game we had already found frustrating we got no closure from.
It started off fairly well and then the main issue came in later on in the game. The puzzles and scares just made for a challenge that didn’t work well for our group.
The design of the space is actually really great despite the game play being lack luster.

The story of the game was pretty clear and the puzzles supported that.

Large well themed set with tonnes to do. They should absolutely should be made clear that you should book the 90 minute room worth of content for most groups - we failed after 60 minutes frustrated at the lack of help from the GM. We would have booked a 90 minute slot if this was made clearer on the website (it's a small bit of text that you should email them to request a 90 minute booking) - I don't think rebooking to replay the room is something most people want to do but it felt like they'd almost designed it this way.

Tulleys described it as Scoby Doo horror and I think that was the perfect synopsis of the room, very eerie and designed to make you jump, but there are no live actors and it is not a horror room. If you call ahead you can book a 90 minute slot, and I would say that is essential. The room is far to big to complete in 60 minutes, even for experienced escapers. And 90 minutes gave us enough time to enjoy the game, and I am glad as it is one of the best we have done.
So many puzzles, and I think we counted a total of 6 rooms within.
Our GM Ellie made the experience as the sarcastic whispering ghost. It was just creepy enough for a wimp like me.
Ellie our GM was fantastic, made us laugh throughout, so interactive and adapting to us as players

Best haunted house escape room we have done
Really well integrated story, and as the GM was in charge of the spooky effects in their office it added to the story brilliantly.

Tulley’s expertise shines through in rooms like this. They take a theme that has been done quite a lot in escape rooms but blow the competition out of the water. In each room including this you get more than you bargained for. The set designs are brilliant, the use of sound and lighting comportments the environment and the use of the space they have is second to none.

It does have elements to make you jump but nothing to be concerned about. Fellow scaredy-cats I promise you’ll be fine!

There were a few things that killed the experience for us. The room can be booked as a 90 minute room or 60 minute room. It’s the same room and only 5% of people escape in 60 minutes. I wish we had known it’s basically impossible to do in 60 minutes. Felt like just a trap to get you to return and spend more. We booked the 60 minute room without knowing you could book 90 minutes. The puzzles aren’t compelling enough to want to return. The idea for some puzzles were cool, but failed on execution. Set was awesome. Though there’s constant jump scares the keep triggering over and over.

There let you book this room for 60 or 90 minutes, but the default is 60 minutes and you have to call or email to book the longer slot. The room is basically impossible in 60 minutes, with an escape rate less than 5%. This feels unfair and pretty unfun, and if you are going to make the room that difficult, that should at least be explained up front. It honestly feels almost like a trick to force people to do the room multiple times. There are also multiple puzzles that are intentionally frustrating, trick you into wasting time trying to solve them the wrong way, or purposely unreliable in a way that detracts from the experience.

I reeeeeeeally wanted to love this room as we'd waiting for ages and heard great things. Unfortunately it left us a little cold, and not because we didn't escape. The backstory is fantastic and as you'd expect from Tulleys, the set and theme is brilliant too. I couldn't get into the puzzle flow and some didn't make sense to me, but I imagine that is just me - please don't let this deter you! It's creepy but not too spooky, family friendly with older kids.

Our second room at Tulleys and previously known as one of the hardest escape rooms in the UK we knew what we were getting ourselves into. Tulleys offer this experience as both a 60 minute and 90 minute escape. I'd advise the 90 minute version as the shear amount of puzzles in this multi floor escape game made it understandable as to why this game is notoriously difficult. This game offered a multitude of puzzle types with a larger overarching puzzle! This game is certainly more on the spooky side with some minor jumps and atmospheric tension but I would not class the game as scary. The set design again is to the high standard that Tulleys always has, felt fully immersed in the set and wondered what lurked around every corner. Can never go wrong with any of the rooms at Tulleys! Difficulty - 4.5 / 5 Puzzles - 4 / 5 Theming - 4.5 / 5 Set Design - 5 / 5 Enjoyment - 4.5 / 5 Value For Money - 4 / 5
All of the puzzles fit the theme and flowed seamlessly
Set design was next level, multiple rooms over 2 floors and very spooky atmosphere.
GM was incredibly helpful and engaged with the group.

Atmospherically spooky with a few jumps but nothing over the top scary.

Absolutely adored everything about this room! Definitely recommend going for the 90 minutes over the 60 minutes, because you really don’t want to run out of time and miss any part of this experience! Even with 8 of us we all contributed to escaping, the puzzles and atmosphere were fantastic and it’s my favourite one I’ve done at Tulley’s so far!
