“🪄 Playing The Magician of Paris at Deep Inside is probably the most complete escape room experience I’ve had; from showing up to the facility, right until I left, everything felt expertly crafted. 🧲 Their branding is ON POINT! It’s the only time I’ve bought merch from an escape room. 🔈 The sound design is ON POINT! It’s also the only time in an escape room where I could hear everything perfectly and didn’t have to struggle to make out what was being said. 🎩 The theatrics are ON POINT! The actor did a great job, and it was fun leaning into the roll that we had to play. ❤️ Such a superb, and memorable experience. A must do while in Paris! 📼 SIDE NOTE: The folks at Deep Inside have an 8 part behind the scenes series on Youtube. Each video is around 8-13 minutes long. It’s worth checking out if you’re interested in their origin story and how they went about building their experiences.”

“After playing the magician for the first time, I let myself be tempted by the full experience bringing together the brand's two rooms. I was curious to see what the transition would be that would bring together a magic room and a horror room, and I was not disappointed! Thrills and anxiety guaranteed! We find ourselves immersed in a story that gives us the impression of playing in a horror film. The actors are very good and take us into their world at a disconcerting speed! The mechanisms, the puzzles, the settings... nothing is left to chance. It’s genius! Quickly a third room!!! One thing is certain, it is that the city of martyrs has many surprises in store for us!”

“I thought the room was very well done. The sets were very immersive. The actors were also very good, but I was paralyzed with fear and not very useful. I would say it’s great for horror fans but not for those who lack bravery.”

“This room was very fun! The puzzles were logical and the the room had good flow. My only criticism is that sometimes the puzzles felt instructional (simply following steps). Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed it.”

“Another very well thought out room. I don’t want to give spoilers but this room had some curveballs and definitely made it interesting. It is difficult to decide which of their rooms I like best but they all are well planned, creative, and novel. Very enjoyable and can be done with 2 or as a group.”

“A very good missing person-themed escape room. The puzzles were pretty simple for us and we finished with very few hints and a lot of time to spare, but they were very enjoyable, and, more importantly, never felt unfair or demanding unreasonable leaps of judgement. But, by far, the room's strong suit was the story, partly told through the room's props, partly through acted cutscenes that play on the screen. These cutscenes are really well acted, which I haven't come to expect from escape rooms. It's like they bothered to get professional actors! 🥸 It manages to accomplish what London's ClueQuest tries yet fails, which is to make you actually feel like you're part of a secret organization of detectives. Looking forward to playing the other rooms at this business and see if these qualities persist!”

“Experienced players (including kids) had a great time. Very friendly staff. Well designed rooms. Different kinds of puzzles (electronic, logic, keys and tools). Working together was key in this one. Team work needed and welcome to theme.”

“Super creepy but not scary, but scary enough to make you apprehensive to explore the rooms. A full immersion experience with indoor and outdoor elements. Get ready to experience something like no other, incredible story telling, design and video production. Def go at night to add to the creepiness level!”

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
