The RingmasterDare 2 EscapeEscape roomIRLAnother couple, along with my husband and I, absolutely love escape rooms. We had completed one earlier in the afternoon and had dinner afterward. Over dinner, I floated the idea of doing another escape room that evening. After seeing what was available, we found The Ringmaster at Dare 2 Escape. What a fantastic room! All four of us were able to easily participate and solve puzzles, yet still understood overall what was happening. There are definitely some “gross”/horror factors in the room, so it may not be suitable for younger players. There are some loud noises that can be startling (especially to someone like me who has difficulties with fireworks, balloons popping, sirens, etc), but you’ll know when those are coming and you’ll be able to prepare. The puzzles weren’t impossible, but did take a lot of careful thought. This is where having a cohesive team really helps, as if one of us was struggling with a puzzle, someone else would hop in and we were able to solve it. The game masters at this location are the best we’ve ever had. They made sure to understand our experience level and only pointed us in the right direction if we asked for a hint, or if we were spending a lot of time going in the wrong direction. We escaped with plenty of time left (10 or 12 mins, I think?) and the biggest testament to this location was that we immediately asked if there was another room available to play! There was…and I’m off to review that one next.

PandorumThe Escape CompanyEscape roomIRLProviding teams with pencil and paper or a marker and dry erase board would make a TREMENDOUS difference in this room. We missed escaping by probably 2 - 3 minutes, and had we had something to write on we would have escaped. Overall this room is definitely hard, but it isn't impossible. What makes it exponentially more difficult is not being able to write down things. When you're trying to remember a series of 9 things, you lose time going over it again and again. Our game master was very helpful and walked us through how the game would have ended. We hate not completing rooms, and - yes, I'm beating a dead horse - had we had pencil and paper we absolutely would have escaped. The room was actually not as "bad" as we expected given the reviews.
