漆黒の悟り [Shadow Zen]Studio Escape Daikoku-choEscape roomIRLA unique room with a creative story, very high production, plus beautiful and fun sets. Puzzles were not too hard. We were a family team of 3. We did the room in English and there were no language issues.
Irvine School of Wizardry and the Goblin's SecretsHidden DonkeyEscape roomIRLAnother strong game from Hidden Donkey. Wonderful sets, sounds, lights, and production. Decent storyline and goals. Somewhat linear narrative flow. It was also somewhat strange that a future game in the same space was in development so some clues and objects in the space were not part of the game we were playing. They were clearly labelled as "part of the other game", but it's odd to have them potentially distracting from the game at hand.
The Keeper And The Fungus Among UsHeadlock Escape Rooms OnlineEscape roomVirtual So. Much. Fun(gus). A sweet, silly, fun, online game. So sad to see it close, and glad so many people got to experience it. I hope it comes back in some form. I played with two other adult players. Puzzles were straightforward, and could be done by school-age kids as well. The plot was fun, the music and lyrics were awesome and grin-inducing, and the puppetry just made the whole thing come together. Loved it.
Escape From GodotMister and MischiefEscape roomIRLThis was delightful. It was an escape-in-a-play, or maybe a play-in-an-escape. Either way, it was a charming, interactive, funny experience for our group of 7. It's appropriate for new and experienced players (though the puzzles aren't that hard) and everyone was wearing a silly grin after it was all over. Highly, highly, recommended.
Room 1985The Locked InnEscape roomIRLA fun room with definite nostalgic 80's vibes and lots to do. Very much in the classic ER mode as far as design and puzzles. Some equipment was a little stuck, but the very attentive and friendly GC was on top of things and got us going again right away.
Wizard's Treasure60Out - HollywoodEscape roomIRLA delightful room. Fun, great for beginners and for experienced players who will appreciate all the wonderful craftsmanship and atmospheric touches. Puzzles are relatively easy and would be good for less experienced players or even school aged kids. Recommended.
Maritime MutinyEscape Room HerndonEscape roomIRLA fun room. We did it with a group of 9 with a wide range of ER experience. There were many puzzles that could be solved in parallel, which made working with a large group possible as different subgroups tackled different puzzles at once. However A group of 4-6 would be a more manageable size. The level of the puzzles was solidly mid-range, which was just as advertised on their website. The bonus puzzles available if you solve the main objective quickly enough were also fun, but expectedly also at mostly higher difficulty. The facility and the room were also wheelchair accessible, which was a requirement for our group. There was one part of the room that would require someone who could walk up a step, however. The atmospheric lighting did make seeing needed details sometimes a bit tricky, but the usual trick of using a phone flashlight took care of that. Overall, a fun room and good for groups.
