RockBandEscapade GamesEscape roomIRLVery cool room! Their theming was great. Room mechanics and elements were awesome! They integrated WAY more unique puzzles and tech than we've seen in most other rooms that just tell you "find a number combination and open this lock" and rinse and repeat for an hour. Very cool experience and using the instruments as the actual puzzles was inspired! ROCK ON!
The Invention RoomEscapade GamesEscape roomIRLOur game masters Jacob and Gage were great! They stayed in character and added to the experience. Definitely had some original puzzles we hadn't seen before. Plus the owner is awesome! Can't wait for their new rooms to open!
The DormCloud EscapeEscape roomOther We might have liked it more if it was not labeled as an escape room. It's not an escape room. It is a story experience where you discover plot points to drive the story to completion. It's not a bad story though! Some strange mechanics though... There are touch sensors that are hidden behind writing and pictures that will stall your progress as there's nothing but your game master giving a tip that you have to actually touch the item. Definitely an innovative take but a little too far off the path to still be called an escape room.
Escape the Red RoomEscape Duck - San GabrielEscape roomIRLComing from two people that are Escape room fanatics, this is not enjoyable. Puzzles that are not intuitive or even able to be deduced without needing explaining from the game master are ridiculous. Two intelligent and experienced players should not need explanations on 90% of the puzzles. It is complicated for the sake of being complicated. There are few instructions about how puzzles function.
The Rise Of ExcaliburBrainy Actz - IrvineEscape roomIRLTheming was pretty good but some of the puzzles have very little direction. The map will waste a lot of your time since half of the map is irrelevant and there's nothing to indicate this. The map is VERY unnecessarily cluttered too.
Mystery At The Lost Point LodgeBrainy Actz - IrvineEscape roomIRLRoom was well themed and looked like a realistic cabin. Downside was all of the scenery was movable and it was very vague where to start on the first puzzle. Guaranteed that even veteran Escape Room fans will need to ask for hints on where to begin. Also, if the magnet board hasn't been fixed yet, you will have to have 2 or 3 people hold them where they need to be placed.
