The StorykeeperLocurioEscape roomIRLThis is hands down the coolest room we have ever done. The immersion was amazing and such a unique hint system. Every person who works here is so incredibly kind- they were accommodating through email prior to coming and they stayed open late so we could sneak in both rooms on our last day in Seattle. Very techy which we don’t always do the best at, but every piece of the room was intentional and so cool. The rooms are hard. This one is more doable than vanishing act (we only had two of us) and we needed hints almost the entire way, but they were so worth it. I didn’t feel like taking a hint in this situation was taking away from the game because even the hints were somewhat riddles. The only bad thing about this room is there isn’t more of them and I know I won’t get to do another room this great for awhile.
GrimmThe Lost Room Escape AdventuresEscape roomIRLThis is the room that got us into doing escape rooms. We were blindfolded and handcuffed and it was a blast. Unique ways to give hints. The owner clearly is invested in your experience
InvasionMind Factory Escape GamesEscape roomIRLThis was hands down one of the best rooms. Very immersive. A fantastic blend of lock and keys (Groots favorite) and tech (Mermaids favorite). Everything flowed so well. I felt like I was reading one of my favorite thriller books with some twists. There is a storyline and you should do breathless first if possible, but even if you don’t this room was very enjoyable. I do love the idea of rooms building on each other and a third room is coming/currently in production. It is creepy, which adds to the excitement. No live actors. We made some dumb mistakes in the end because we felt the pressure of time and used 3 of our 5 hints in the last 10 minutes (you get a bonus of time added to clock if you solve a puzzle and you get an additional minute added to your time to offset the tech delay of some portions - not trying to spoil anything but they make it so you’re not penalized for some cool special effects moments!) Challenging but not so hard it makes you feel stupid or impossible. One of the things that makes it great is the owner/creator is very involved and is taking a lot of feedback. It’s so cool to hear his thought process on the room if you have time to chat with him. Added bonus - the room is very affordable for how much detail and tech is involved.
The Vanishing ActLocurioEscape roomIRLWe didn’t even come close to escaping - you really need more than two folks, there is just sooo much jam packed into this incredible room. This is spooky, part of what limited us was me being freaked out a smidge but that just speaks to the immersion of their rooms. I personally liked Storykeeper more but only because the clues and riddles of that room are more the way my brain functions. I cannot emphasize enough the creativity and talent that went into this room. I cannot wait to see what their new room holds and even though it will be another year before I’m back in Seattle I’m already excited. Locurio takes escape rooms to another level.
Be'WitchedLara's Labyrinth - WethersfieldEscape roomIRLWe did the R rated version with our parents - interesting bonding experience with in laws! It was hilarious but super easy room as the live actors guided a bunch. Don’t pay for the added R rating if you will be uncomfortable with cursing or sex topics. Our sides hurt when we left from all the laughing we did and definitely want to return to Laras and finish all these rooms. The props and set were some of the best.
Special Ops: Mysterious MarketThe Escape Game - GaslampEscape roomIRLOne of my favorites. I loved the flow of this room and the different themes. The plot/story line was so interesting and kept to a theme. Multiple tricky spots so you have to pace yourself, because there are a lot of puzzles. There were multiple times we thought we had won but there was another step. We wouldn’t have escaped but they gave us a 5 min handicap because Groot had to leave the room for a bit. We did 4 of their escape rooms and the staff was fantastic for each room.
BreathlessMind Factory Escape GamesEscape roomIRLAnother great room. We love this company and the owner is fantastic. I would argue they have the best games in CT in terms of storyline, immersion and challenge. Breathless was an easier room and first in the storyline, but the puzzles really flow and have some unique puzzles/thrills we haven’t had before. Must do rooms if you’re in CT.
The DepthsThe Escape Game - GaslampEscape roomIRLThis is more a tech room than a mechanical room. There is a “surprise” game/puzzle at the end that I found super cool but was mildly tricky with only 2 people (definitely doable with 2 though). This game was more fun than prior escape rooms we had done so we wound up doing 3 more at this location and the rest were all very great. Groot prefers mechanical puzzles so he preferred Gold Rush at this site, while Mermaid tends to like tech so found this one and special Ops the best. Both of us had Prison Break as our favorite even though we failed it.
The Stolen RelicEscape Rooms ConnecticutEscape roomIRLThere were quite a few things that weren’t as intuitive as we would like /expect and some parts of the puzzles were worn and old. However, the uniqueness of some of the puzzles made up for the parts we didn’t love.
The Davinci ChallengeLara's Labyrinth - MiddletownEscape roomIRLVery tough to do with 2 folks I think we used 3 hints, but it was such a fun room. Would have definitely helped to have 1-2 more people. Super interesting puzzles, the tech was awesome. Can’t wait to do more. This was probably our favorite Laras room so far. The set was immersive and lots of hands on puzzles
