Alice In PuzzlelandEscape Hunt - BrisbaneEscape roomIRLUp there as one of my favourite rooms. Amazing!
Challenge RoomsHijinx Hotel ChermsideEscape roomOther Fun but definitely not an escape room. Really unsure why they often get listed as escape rooms. Will do again though.
Game of StonesRed Lock Escape Rooms - North Lakes, BrisbaneEscape roomIRLThe room was fine. Some elements I really liked, other elements a bit meh. Game play a little clunky but mostly flowed. Missed an element due to not triggering it before we first played with it (therefore it did nothing) and then not wanting to break it so left it be. The first room is quite linear and I found myself bored trying to entertain myself while my fellow escapee deciphered symbols, again this took longer than it should due to the missed element. Personally I hate the symbols.... The throne was a sight to see. I'm a fan of tactile puzzles like the one in the corner, closer to the exit door. Theme and concept was good.
Witch's LairRed Lock Escape Rooms - North Lakes, BrisbaneEscape roomIRLThe theme was great but unfortunately execution was not and it's the first room I have ever walked out of without completing and time remaining! The first main puzzle is incredibly flawed, long and glitchy. We had almost completed it and it reset so had to start over, not to mention the final answer to the puzzle being incredibly stupid that the game master later said that no one had gotten it right and needed to be told the answer. Dumb luck won't even work because there are too many different possibilities that you would use the entire time with trial and error. Some sort of guided input similar to the poster on the wall for the final puzzle of the first room would be good for this puzzle too (I loved the poster. Incredible informative without being obvious). Similarly, said poster could contain elements of what the voice over does. Sucks if you miss what was said because there is no way to retrigger the audio. Second room again a glitchy puzzle not registering when it's suppose to and then registering when it's not meant to. The use of indescribable symbols that need relaying from one side of the room to the other (but can not be moved closer) makes it incredibly frustrating to work through a puzzle. I get going for a mystic theme but identifiable or describable symbols would make game play more fluid. Also taking note of a lot of hand written instructions on puzzle elements instructing you on how the elements work together tells you the room lacks continuity and logic. A well designed room should not require a plethora of out of theme edits to flow and function. This room is rated very hard but if it wasn't for the glitches and illogical answers this room wouldn't be rating as high. While I did walkout in frustration before completing the room I feel we had used the majority of the elements to say that there was nothing conceptually hard about the room, the hardness was due to poor design or technical glitches. I would love to see this room revamped and more time put into making it flow better. It was a "new" room with repurposed puzzles that obviously weren't working clearly in their first home hence the handwriting on elements. The room has potential but unfortunately missed the mark for me.
