Hope EndThe Ministry Of PeculiaritiesEscape roomIRLI've done a good amount of escape rooms, but I knew I finally had to get on Morty to start reviewing after my experience here. What an amazing experience from start to finish! The staff was amazing, which really started with Emma and Brooke's (our hosts/GMs for the night) commitment and excellence to remaining in character. It's up there with the best live actor experience I've had, in that they're both able to riff off your group responses and dynamics seamlessly. The immersion, from storytelling, script, and puzzles were so fun. I honestly wasn't wondering about the time component, but wanting to truly progress the story. The set design and puzzles were perfectly balanced in that while it was linear in how you follow and progress, it fit perfectly within the setting and there were some mechanisms that I really enjoyed. It wasn't a scary experience, but a slight spookiness given the context of the story, so I still would recommend this to anyone as it's not really anything that would be off-putting for scaredy cats (such as myself).
Cosmic CrisisThe Escape Game - AustinEscape roomIRLI thought the tech in this room was fun and there were some unconventional ways to approach the puzzles was refreshing. Set design is fun and overall, I think this would be a fun game for most. I personally did not enjoy one of the puzzles towards the end, as it just felt like far too much of a time waster, even though I understand the in-theme aspect of it.
Lost CityEscapology - San Antonio Park NorthEscape roomIRLPretty fun room. Puzzles were on the easier side for the most part and made sense. As a group of 2, we were able to actually solve this with no hints and almost 20 minutes remaining.
Antidote: Chemical WarfareEscapology - San Antonio Park NorthEscape roomIRLI thought the theming of the room was fine and suited the overall story / what it's going for. However, the puzzle flow didn't quite connect for me. There were several puzzles that were difficult to understand and that required a bit too much attention in my opinion. What really made this room frustrating was the final puzzle which needed a leap in logic to solve it. I've done almost 100 rooms and I can't say I would've ever arrived at that solution without a hint. Props to the GM though as the overall experience was good, but I can't say I would recommend this particular room.
