Cornstalkers: Lost in the MaizeThe Escape Ventures - OrlandoEscape roomIRLI’ll start this off by saying that this game is absolutely INCREDIBLE. I’m not even sure where to begin as I review this. Ever since I first found out the theme of this game, I knew it was going to be something special. It’s been around a year since then, and as I waited for this game to open, I started having a lot of ideas and expectations of certain things I wanted to see in the game. And, I am so very happy to say that a lot of my expectations were met and even exceeded!! I really don’t want to spoil anything about this game, because this is a game that EVERYONE should definitely try to experience on their own if possible. Every second of this game is incredibly immersive, suspenseful, and everything you could ever hope for in a scary escape room. The set design may be my absolute favorite part of this experience. Escape Ventures’ set design has always been spectacular, but Cornstalkers brings that to a whole new level. The space is MASSIVE, yet every inch of it is perfectly themed and nothing feels out of place in the slightest. I wish I could’ve taken pictures for myself, because it really is just such a treat to look at. The effort that went into the design of this game shows, and they did an incredible job. The puzzles themselves all flowed so nicely with each other, and they were also just so fun to solve. I would say there’s a pretty good balance between easier and more difficult puzzles, and there are so many good moments where that one piece of the puzzle that you were missing suddenly clicked into place for you and it’s always so satisfying to finally solve it. There was never a point where something felt completely impossible to solve, and we did end up completing the game with what I would consider no true hints but just a few nudges along the way. Another amazing part of our experience was the fact that they gave us a mini “tour” behind the scenes after we had beaten the game to see a bit more of how it all worked. There are so many cool things that they’re able to show you, and there’s a lot of things that work differently than how you’d expect them to. If you’re into the behind the scenes type of stuff, I’d highly recommend playing the game soon, as I’m not sure how long they’ll keep doing it!! As much as I would like to keep rambling about this game, I’ve already written so much and there are so many aspects of this game that are best to see for yourself. As long as you can handle the scares, I promise this is an experience that you definitely will not regret!!
