The Toy Factory
Tales of Torchdale [prev. Escaperoom Antwerp]
Escape room
IRL
As I near 200 rooms, this is easily one of my favorites, top 5 for sure. Every puzzle is fun and thematic, you are part of the story from moment 1, and the story arc is unbeatable. The ending had me smiling ear to ear!
Mystery of the Magician's Study

Very thematic with some fun puzzles! One puzzle in particular I'd never seen before. One thing I didn't like was the GM came into the room to help us twice rather than using a microphone or audio cue - one lock was slightly finicky and she came in and just did it for us saying "can I check? You have it right!"... they should have a prerecorded voice to say "that looks right, try again" if the lock isn't perfect. On another puzzle, we were looking at something in the wrong way, but rather than give a nudge, she just came in and showed us. An odd immersion breaker in an otherwise really immersive cohesive room. Favorite Non-spoiler Puzzle (iykyk): Astronomy Runner-up: Floor
The Crying Cactus

Conundrum Museum

A LOT of fun for two people, but we needed some hints as we got closer to the end. This is my favorite type of game - loaded with locks, keys, and buttons. I preferred this over Magician's Study because of the sheer number of puzzles and their variety, but I do think Magician was more thematic. Storyteller remains on my list for now! Non-spoiler favorite puzzle: "Lovers Bridge"
Escape IT - The Sewers

Very intense with epic production quality - I was stunned by the quality of the sets. I don't like horror movies, but it felt like I was in one from the first moment. It was definitely out of my comfort zone, but I'm glad I did it. We were 3, but with more it'd be less intense (but there may also be moments where some are standing around watching the others do puzzles.) This "part 1" is a better escape room and way scarier than part 2 (Fun House), but this side was "all dark, all the time", so it felt a bit more one note to me, as opposed to part 2 which had notes of levity mixed in. That said, you'll probably play them both, and this is the one to start with unless you want to ease your way into them with the less scary or the two (in that case do Fun House first). I had the "honor" (horror) of being singled out about 2/3 of the way for an intense moment. But it was also the most single memorable moment of all of this company's games.
Sector 9

Surprising find in South Tahoe. We did The Estate, which was almost a love, but Sector 9 was a real treat - we had booked Polar Express but due to our own timing issue, we changed to Sector 9, and I'm glad we did! We found it easier than The Estate (despite the supposedly higher difficulty) because the puzzles flowed very well (in The Estate it was hard to know what to do next). The only negative is that it was actually too easy: we got out in 30 minutes with two hints (one of these was a little bit of a logical leap that I don't feel bad needing a hint for; the other was because we couldn't find a very obvious keyhole to put a key into... sheesh). There was a SNAFU in the reset, and a series of locks were not reset correctly, but the GM fixed it quickly and it didn't destroy the overall ambience. Nice family-run business.
Revenge Of The Tomb
America's Escape Game - Orlando
Escape room

Very surprised I liked this so much, given some the reviews. Room after room - this is deceptively long, and the minor jump scares and hydraulics were a treat. Everything worked perfectly for us except the timer screen...but who looks at that anyway? ;) No standout must-see puzzles here, but you'll have a good time!
Under Pressure
Escapology - Orlando
Escape room
IRL
One of the best games at Escapology. Simple but fun, with a multi-layered code puzzle I found a blast. Great theming
Haunted House
Escapology - Orlando
Escape room

Easily the best room at Escapology. Great set, fun puzzles, great use of a small space footprint.
Jewel Thief
Edge Escape

Pleasantly surprised to see a heist style game (a common trope) that still manages to surprise and entertain. Lots of fun stuff going on here with unique puzzles and... perspectives ;)
Horror Circus
Game Over Escape Rooms - Brandon
Escape room

An unexpected blast! Pretty easy for experienced players, but the mix of physical carnival style games (which are perfect for the theming) and original puzzles I had never seen before (no spoilers: the "animal" puzzle), this was an unexpected delight!
