Dead or AliveLOST REALITY Escape Room PerthEscape roomIRLLoved the room- interesting and fun puzzles, only problem was that we got out in 22 minutes without hints which was first place and felt great, but paying $200 for 20 minutes entertainment stings a bit. I’ve been to places that offer a discount or vouchers when you get out under a certain time which would have made it feel better. Great room though- just a bit easy (maybe needs a lower rating)
High NoonEscape This - Perth CBD, Hay Street MallEscape roomIRLLoved the atmosphere and story- flowed really well and the production was great, aside from one puzzle that didn’t work at first, but otherwise really fun. A few different puzzles I hadn’t seen before, and quite a big range from locks, to mechanisms to physical challenges.
The HauntingEscape This - Perth, NorthbridgeEscape roomIRLDidn’t love this one- although I’m not a big horror fan. I’d say there’s more focus on the horror ambience and aesthetic than the puzzles, so if you’re up for a spooky experience it’s fun. The flickering lighting and loud music are kind of an annoying distraction when you’re trying to solve puzzles, and there’s a massive amount of props that are irrelevant which was a bit of a time waster.
Buried AliveEscape This - Perth, NorthbridgeEscape roomIRLVery immersive and different- was fun to do a 2-player only room with separation to require working together. It had unique puzzles and flowed quite well- only drawback was the final puzzle we got stuck on, not super intuitive, and we were focused on using something we’d found earlier that we were supposed to use on an earlier puzzle that we didn’t need to.
CannibalEscape This - Perth, NorthbridgeEscape roomIRLThe atmosphere and set design is fantastic- very immersive and detailed. Gameflow was a little illogical once you’re in the second room. We also missed finding a crucial item which I don’t think the GM realised- so when we were stuck and asking for hints they kept playing the same audio clue that didn’t make sense.
PiratesEscape This - Perth, NorthbridgeEscape roomIRLFun and immersive- was one of the first rooms I did, wide range of puzzles
Bank HeistEscape This - Perth, NorthbridgeEscape roomIRLEnjoyed the theme and range of puzzles- only drawback is there’s only really one room- no secret passageways or anything. They improved on a lot of things in the 2.0 version
DraculaEscape This - Perth, NorthbridgeEscape roomIRLNot my favourite experience at escape this- went in a big group, which the space suits well, but with lots of people working on different puzzles all with audio queues it was a little difficult to follow. Also there were several puzzles with multiple solutions which meant you were left trying to use things you hadn’t used that weren’t necessary anymore.
Casino HeistStrike Bowling KarrinyupEscape roomIRLProbably one of the worst rooms I’ve done- and haven’t gone back to strike since. All the puzzles are combination locks and not very intuitive. I’m definitely not a fan of time penalties for hints, when you’re paying $200 for an hour’s entertainment and lose time due to the puzzles not making sense. This was a couple years ago though, so they may do things differently now.
The Secret Chamber and the Deathly GrailLost in PerthEscape roomIRLAesthetics were fantastic and the puzzles were creative, but the game was not reset properly and staff were not particularly helpful or engaged.
