BuriedPadlock'd Escape roomIRLNice experience, it was quite a novel way to play and kind of fun to collaborate in the darkness! This room forces you to talk and you each have your own parts to play, which is neat. I did find it quite straightforward and not much of a challenge, unlike the 5/5 difficulty advertised. The most challenging parts were probably collaborating with the person next to you and manoeuvring around the small space to find things (from what I can recall, it has been a while). It also wasn't very scary, though you may find it scarier if you're claustrophobic.
The FreakshowPadlock'd Escape roomIRLIt was a nice room, but very easy. I think there were a lot of opportunities for live actors to jump out at you, but likely as we did it in the middle of the day on a Tuesday we didn't get much actor action. I was also looking out warily for jump-scares, so that might have contributed to a lack of scariness (despite that, I do wish it had been slightly more frightening). Our single encounter with the actor occurred when we got stuck on a specific puzzle, so they came into the room to try their best to show us what we needed to do next wordlessly - but as we were confused it took him a couple minutes of motioning for us to figure out what was going on, so it wasn't very scary in the end... I felt bad...
Escape from the Red RoomREAL ESCAPE GAME CROSSING AsakusaEscape roomIRLI came and played this room with a friend during a visit to Japan. I was really hyped for the room due to its supposed lack of language barrier and the fact that I might be playing with complete strangers (possibly non-English speakers), something I'd never done before. We were paired with two lovely Japanese speaking girls, and given translation devices so we could somewhat understand what each of us were saying. The GM was in the room the entire time, and gave us hints on a tablet when we got stuck (which was often, haha). I'm quite thankful for the plentiful hints, which ensured we were able to finish the room just before the time ran out. I found it quite difficult just due to the different style of puzzle used throughout the room compared to escape rooms I've already done. In addition, the red room's design is incredibly unique! Trying to communicate with the translation devices (or with gestures) can take up a bit of time, however - even you manage to get your meaning across, it can be difficult to collaborate as a team across the language barrier. That being said, we still had a great time. I wish there was a little bit of background music, as the only audio apart from us talking throughout the room were indicators that came over the speakers with how much time we had left every so often. While the red aesthetic was a nice touch the room didn't feel very immersive. If I come back, I'd love to try out the Blue Room as well.

Time Travellers RoomEscape Room Oz CaloundraEscape roomIRLI attempted this room with 9 people (including myself) and quickly realised why most escape rooms recommend only 6 people max in a room. There just wasn't enough for the all of us to do, many of us just sat on the couch on the middle of the room or talked while a couple people were up and about chasing leads. It has been a few years since I played, but as I remember the interior wasn't incredibly atmospheric. There was a bookshelf, a workbench and a desktop but the rest was a brick wall and pipes of an average slightly-large room. It didn't feel like a secret underground lab with a time machine. I think there was a story but it wasn't overly memorable. Some prop-based locks were difficult to open as I recall, but some of them were interesting to use. While the end was colourful, we did have to be prompted by the GM after a minute or so of us standing around wondering what we were meant to do next. The GM also gave us extra time, which was nice :) After we finished we assumed that the large limit on people in the room was due to families (the room is advertised as family-friendly) where the kids won't be contributing as much. I would not recommend more than 6 adults in this room unless some of them don't expect to do anything.
