Bikers' RevengeEncrypted Escape - Bethesda [prev. Escape Quest]Escape roomIRLThis location was transferred to a new company, and this is the first room they brought in (possibly from one of their PA locations? I notice the same name is closed now at one of them). It has pretty typical bar escape room decor, but a lot more moving parts and interactivity points beyond locks than most escape rooms in the area. Some of the puzzles are challenging but nothing was unfair or inscrutable. There were usually multiple concurrent puzzles that could be worked on, which is always nice even for a smaller group. My wife, five year old, and I barely escaped while using the maximum 3 clues to be on the leaderboard.
Fair GameRed Door Escape Room - GaithersburgEscape roomIRLThe game had a great mix of fair games that required some level of coordination or patience without dominating the puzzling aspect of the room. Everything worked reliably and the puzzles were challenging but nothing felt random.
Captain Maniacal's LairboratoriumRed Door Escape Room - GaithersburgEscape roomIRLIt’s really easy - I should have sat back more and let my kids work on it. The vibe and the functionality was great though and I would recommend this as an intro to escape rooms for anyone.
Immunity QuestBreakpoint Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis was extremely easy - if I knew how easy I would have skipped it but it’s a great room to bring newbies to and let them figure out most of the puzzles.
Pawn shopBreakpoint Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThere were a few puzzles here that were very ambiguous - I don’t want to do spoilers but one involved precise math but unclear rules and multiple props that could have been involved. At least one other puzzle was solved by just button mashing. Overall too many knick knacks and too janky puzzles.
