Absolutely loved this! One of my favourite puzzle game experiences

Absolutely loved this game! It felt like a bit of a slow start but then once things began to fall into place it was impossible to put down. There was one moment where a translation issue led us down the wrong path for a while, but we worked out where had gone wrong by looking at the solution for that section. Particularly enjoyed how all characters were important and needed to piece together the story - it didn’t seem like there was unnecessary fluff.

This was cute. One puzzle in particular I thought was really cool, but the rest were fairly standard. I’m also finding the Exit hint system a little frustrating given the first hint just seems to be a rewording of the instructions given, so I can’t imagine it actually being a useful hint for anyone. But still, especially considering the price point, I had fun and I think it’s a worthwhile way to spend an hour!

Absolutely the idea of this, but it didn’t really end up exciting us as you end up spending most of your time just having the other players explain what they have on their pages and copying it down on to yours. Then once you have all the pieces together the puzzles are fairly straightforward. I think there was only one puzzle where that didn’t work. That being said, we played as a team of two - each taking two players’ roles, so it would likely be more challenging with four players.

My husband received this game as a gift and I was a bit apprehensive about playing because I know very little about LOTR, but I quite enjoyed it. Didn’t need prior LOTR knowledge.

Really enjoy these whodunnit style games from Case Closed! They only take about an hour to play so there isn’t HEAPS of gameplay value for money, but the production value is great, and it’s always so nice to play a game set in Australia and/or New Zealand because it’s so rare and we’re so used to having to adapt puzzles to accomodate UK/US spelling and cultural elements
