Sleep No More [Immersive Theatre]The McKittrick HotelEscape roomOther Incredible show. Incredible atmosphere, sets, and vibes. Good dancing/choreography. The story is hard to follow but that’s part of the appeal/point, it’s a dreamlike haze. I understand why some people went to see it dozens of times. There’s a tremendous amount of content. 5/5
Boda Borg Boston QuestsBoda Borg - BostonEscape roomOther Incredibly fun and engaging premise: mini-rooms, each of which takes only a few minutes to complete, but you can fail and need to restart. There are tons of different rooms (“quests”), some similar to traditional escape rooms and some quite different. There’s a good number of physical challenges. Try to go when it’s not too crowded so wait times to re-enter rooms after failing aren’t long. I only got to complete a small number of quests, but I’d love to return for more. 5/5
Life and Trust [Immersive Experience]EmursiveEscape roomOther Really entertaining and engaging. It’s impossible to describe this show without comparing it to its big sibling Sleep no More. Both are excellent, though life and trust feels more showy/flashy and less artsy. I’m quite disappointed it closed so abruptly… at least there’s still a pretty coffee shop with a nice mural that’s still open 5/5
Activate [Interactive Arcade]Activate - American DreamEscape roomOther Unique format: small rooms containing mostly physical minigames. Each minigame has several levels of increasing difficulty so there’s lots of replayability. Several minigames are really great, though some are less good. Wear clothes you can move/sweat in. 5/5.
Viola's Room [Immersive Experience]PunchdrunkEscape roomOther Beautiful sets and gripping story/narration. Just the right level of spooky, but not scary. Unfortunately, my audio was broken in one ear and I had to fiddle with the equipment the whole time to get decent audio. I wish the finale/ending had a bit more to it. Still quite good overall, would recommend. 4/5
The Death of Rasputin [Immersive theater]The Death of RasputinEscape roomOther A successor to Sleep No More and Life And Trust, but notably smaller-scale and lower-budget. In contrast to those shows, Death of Rasputin is much lighter in tone. It has dialogue, no masks, and more audience participation. Definitely worth seeing. 5/5.
Tomb5 Wits - ArlingtonEscape roomOther High-tech room with extremely high-quality sets and generally simple tasks/puzzles. One puzzle was frustrating / seemingly broken when I played. In terms of gameplay this may be the weakest of the three rooms at this location, but the theme and decor are great. (And being the weakest out of three very strong games isn’t so bad) 4/5.
Drago's Castle5 Wits - ArlingtonEscape roomOther Not quite a traditional escape room. Very high quality sets with clearly-defined task to complete in each room. I greatly enjoyed the fantasy theme. 5/5
Spygames [Immersive Experience]SPYSCAPEEscape roomOther Hodgepodge of various games spread throughout the museum. Most of them are fairly forgettable / uninteresting but I really like the laser / button pressing rooms 3/5
Espionage5 Wits - ArlingtonEscape roomOther 5wits is somewhat different from a traditional escape room, with more clearly-defined tasks and arcade-like gameplay. Exceptionally high-quality sets. The puzzles/theme in this room weren’t my favorite, but quite good room overall 4/5
