Box One By Neil Patrick HarrisTheory11 OnlineEscape roomTabletopQuite fun, one of the best tabletop escape games I’ve done. Inventive puzzles which all feel distinct, you never know what will happen next. It’s pretty amazing how much varied content fits in this one box. 4/5
The Morrison Game FactoryPostCuriousEscape roomTabletopStory-driven tabletop escape game. The board game components and theme are fun. The story is excellent. Puzzles are fine but I found a couple frustrating/ambiguous. 4/5
The Emerald FlamePostCuriousEscape roomTabletopPretty solid tabletop escape game. The art is quite good. The story is nothing special, but it’s functional. The puzzles are largely good. There’s nothing spectacular or standout here, but it’s all pretty solid 4/5
Dungeons & Dragons: Bedlam in NeverwinterHasbroEscape roomTabletopQuite fun story and puzzles. There’s a combat system and some character customization but it’s not very deep and mostly there for fun / vibes. Nothing revolutionary here but everything is executed well. I’d suggest playing the whole game in one session. 4/5
The Werewolf ExperimentEscape Room in a BoxEscape roomTabletopOne of the original tabletop escape games. The Mattel edition is more mass-produced and somewhat less charming than the original printing, but it’s perfectly fine. There are far better tabletop puzzle games out there, but there’s nothing wrong with this one 3/5
Secret of Dr. Gravely's RetreatThinkFunEscape roomTabletopA notable step up in difficulty compared to thinkfun’s first tabletop escape (stargazer’s manor). Includes some genuinely tough physical puzzles (I’m pretty bad at physical puzzles though). High quality components and all the puzzles are well-designed. I don’t love the theme, though. 3/5
EXIT: The Game - The Secret LabThames & KosmosEscape roomTabletopI had a bad experience with this game after being stuck on one of the earliest puzzles. In hindsight it’s a funny memory but none of the other puzzles were notable or interesting. 2/5
Box Two By Neil Patrick HarrisTheory11 OnlineEscape roomTabletopIt’s fine. Definitely less good than Box One, but Box One was quite a standout. The vibes / style / components are quite good but the actual puzzle content is meh. Online chat interface is pretty terrible. They could’ve actually paired you up with another person; would’ve been an interesting gimmick at least. Instead we get the “chatbot with a human name and face and delays sending messages like it’s ‘typing’ response”. I strongly dislike these bots in all contexts, and I’m sad to see them used here. 3/5
The Cursed DollhouseThinkFunEscape roomTabletopSome really tough/confusing puzzles. A stark difficulty spike compared to the other thinkfun escape games, and not in a good way. The dollhouse prop/set is an interesting idea but doesn’t do much for me. 2/5
