Temple of the Volcano God
Reynards Adventures
Escape room
IRL
Note, the entrance to this escape room is a little hidden and not signposted. Look at photo for front door. The rooms were good, with a logical flow to the puzzles. They all made sense. The atmosphere of the escape room was good the theming in each area was great, and had a good sense of discovery and surprise. The owner/creator and puzzle master Richard introduced us to the house and gave a lot of backstory with some history. He hand built all of the rooms and props. Richard is clearly very passionate about his escape room project, and told us about his grand plans for expansion.
Mutiny
Tulley's Escape Rooms - Hatton
Escape room
IRL
We did this room with 4 adults and 4 children. It was big enough for 8, but a little crazy at times. The room worked well for larger groups with puzzles that could be worked on in parallel.
Nottah Temple
Tulley's Escape Rooms - Hatton
Escape room
IRL
Another great escape room, this Nottah, is very expansive and there is a lot to do. Time management is important and asking for clues may be needed if you are stuck and don’t want to waste time in the early stages. There are several rooms and crawling spaces, theming is great, and the puzzles are good.
The Hellevator
Clue HQ Birmingham
Escape room
IRL
We really enjoyed Hellevator, it’s a very high-tech room with lots of special effects. Most of the puzzles were code and password based, but the overall experience was great. It starts with a video which introduced the back story and characters. Our guide Emma was very friendly and super passionate about the games, she got us into the room quickly and looked after us throughout the game and afterwards. Would highly recommend this game and Clue HQ in general
The Demon Barber
Escape Leamington Spa - Dormer Place
Escape room
IRL
We visited on Saturday afternoon to play the Demon Barber game. Our games master Katie made us feel very welcome and her friendly and enthusiastic introduction to the game really added to the atmosphere. The game itself was very fun, a little challenging in places and Katie gave us a few strategic hints when we got stuck, without spoiling the puzzles. The room itself was very well themed and all of the elements were in a fresh condition and in good working order. We’d definitely come back again for one of the other rooms.
The Outfitters
Tulley's Escape Rooms - Hatton
Escape room
IRL
This escape room was good fun, we took a long time in the first room, and this resulted in us being a little on the back foot. There are a lot of reveals, and some twits and turns. We made it out but I’d recommend asking for a hint if you are not making progress, as it wasn’t difficult but there was a lot to do. Our hosts were great and gave us enough information to solve the puzzles for ourselfs when stuck. I’d say that this is a very high quality room, and although not as high-tech as others it worked very well.
Our Finest Hour
Escape Hunt - Birmingham Central
Escape room
IRL
The finest hour room was a great experience, the difficulty was about right for us, the puzzles were logical and made sense. The room was a little linear, but that did not distract from the experience. Having recently visited Bletchley park, this room was a great complement to the experience.
The Steampunk Express
Escape Room Adventures
Escape room
IRL
This escape room was okay, but doesn’t compare to the theming of others, such as Tulleys. It was okay, but not worth £80.
Robin Hoods: Breakout Friar Tuck
UK Escape Games Wheelgate Park
Escape room
IRL
A good escape room with a lot to do. There are multiple rooms with a good level of difficulty. Many aspects of the game could be run in parallel which worked well allowing the kids to work on one part whilst we worked on another. The theming was good and the puzzles all worked correctly, although one of them was a little stiff. Ethan our games host was very friendly, though we didn’t need any help with the puzzles.
Doctor Who - Worlds Collide
Escape Hunt - Birmingham Central
Escape room
IRL
World collide was a bit of a mixed room, the first room felt great with a video presentation and great atmosphere. The second room felt more like a basic white room, the lab theme kind felt lacking and more like a store room. We got a bit confused by two of the puzzles. The room was kind of parallel, but with some ordering required to advance. We enjoyed it, but wasn’t our favourite room.
