Candy Cane ConundrumPortland Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLOne of my favorite rooms — the theme carried through every aspect of the room and it was fun, interactive, and really clever. The staff at Portland Escape Rooms have the best energy too.
The Temple of Lost GoldMaze Rooms - Robertson BlvdEscape roomIRLThe concept is cool but it was so dark with no flashlight or lantern for a prop. Had we not used our phone flashlights, we wouldn’t have been able to see anything to solve the first puzzle. There were also a lot of technical difficulties and things broken that the GM had to just open for us bc it didn’t work. We also kept being given hints when we didn’t ask, and didn’t get to take a photo at the end. Pretty poor, non-mmersive experience.
The LadderHatch EscapesEscape roomIRLThe Ladder is so unique and is more like a “choose your own adventure” story than an escape room. It was a little overwhelming because there’s so much to do, but the story is really interesting and I love that it’s replayable. Some of the time in each room feels like it goes by too fast but I think if my group goes back, we’ll just try to be a lot more focused.
Sherlock Holmes & Beautiful MindMaze Rooms - Robertson BlvdEscape roomIRLThe room itself is fine, pretty standard of an escape room and puzzles. The story wasn’t great though and felt very disconnected from Sherlock Holmes. It felt like this was another room that got poorly re-themed.
Wicked Witch60Out - Silver LakeEscape roomIRLThis room is so dark — and not story-wise, literal lighting-wise. We were having trouble figuring a puzzle out and when we called in for a clue, they told us to use our phone flashlights which feels like it ruins the immersive experience. You couldn’t do this room without an external flashlight, which is frustrating.
