Patient 57Breakout KC - River MarketEscape roomIRLThis room was definitely an improvement over the first one and had some creative ideas. That said it relied heavily on 4-digit lock codes with little or no indication of which lock a solved code belonged to. It often became a process of trying the same code on every lock until something opened, which wasn’t very satisfying. The puzzles themselves were okay, but not particularly memorable. We also had a couple of moments where the game master had to tell us that a door or cabinet had opened because two things triggered at once, or the opening happened in another part of the room where there was no obvious visual or audio cue. That broke the flow and made us feel like we were missing something when we’d actually solved it correctly. Overall, I think the room has some genuinely good ideas and a solid foundation. The biggest opportunity is in the execution: better signposting for lock codes and clearer feedback when something opens would make the experience feel much more polished and rewarding.
The GamblerBreakout KC - River MarketEscape roomIRLThe room had some fun ideas, but the execution made it more frustrating than satisfying. There were an overwhelming number of 4-digit locks, and after solving a puzzle there was nothing to indicate which lock the code belonged to. That meant every solution turned into trying the same code on every lock in the room until one finally opened, which felt more like trial and error than puzzle solving. A number of the puzzles also felt like time wasters rather than meaningful challenges, and with so many locks to check, it really slowed the pacing. I enjoy escape rooms where solving a puzzle gives you a clear sense of progress. Here, it often felt like we had the right answer but were stuck searching for where to use it.
