Had to get this one in before it closed and happy I did. The age showed a bit in both materials and design, but it was enjoyable. Good for smaller groups.

Temporarily Closed - It is dangerous to explore that which should remain untouched, but this hasn't stopped our expedition into an ancient Mayan Ruin. The further we explored the more lost we felt, until.... we stumbled upon a tomb, the entrance behind us slammed shut. Where are we? What's happening? With anxieties rising we fight to find a way out. Something is off. An unknown presence is here. A consuming presence. We must escape before it's too late, or risk being lost forever in this curse!

Had a great time, solid number of puzzles, 2 experienced players and 3 with 2 or fewer rooms of prior experience. Only used 1 hint on enthusiast mode to escape!

Another solid room built by Escape Hour. Glad I got to play it before got vaulted. Had a really good flow and the set design was really immersive.

A take on a classic theme! The puzzles are varied and enjoyable, and we used nearly the entire time for our group of 4. The was nice, but the lighting was pretty frustrating. Escape Hour does an amazing job with audio to create some fun moments, and it is no exception here. There is a walkie-talkie for hints being used, but because of the audio in the game, it is impossible for anyone except for the user to hear it. Overall, we had a good time, and I would recommend playing it before it closes for good this summer!

I love a good Ruin room and this didn’t disappoint. There were quite a few puzzles and with only two of us we got out with only a few seconds left.

Escape Hour’s Mayan Ruins was okay. Run of the mill. Not super great, some cool stuff, some re-used puzzles from some of their other rooms. It’s a meh experience overall.

This room walks the line between dislike and like but it’s clear a lot of effort went into the set so I put ‘liked’. This company is great at atmosphere, clearly putting a lot of money into the set and ambience. This room felt tiring. Here’s a guidebook with a list of puzzles to complete along with instructions on how to do each one. I felt like my partner and I were just ticking off boxes. I would love for this company to get someone in to help them come up with innovative puzzles that are intuitive rather than having to explain every puzzle in their manual because the effort wasn’t put in. The excitement was manufactured by having dim lighting and overly loud music and a game master who would chime in frequently regarding the time left. Meh, just meh.
