Scooby-Doo™ and the Spooky Castle Adventure

Overall I was disappointed by this game. I had really high hopes and expectations and the room fell flat. I will say that the design elements are very good. Colorful, high quality materials. However, the puzzles themselves felt very elementary. This would be great for first timers. As other reviewers have said, we suffered from some technical difficulties; certain elements didn’t activate when they should have and some of the LCD screens were faulty which definitely detracts from the experience. I can imagine this game was great at inception, but it’s a few years old now and it shows.

Unfortunately we were unable to complete the room because we lost 10 minutes due to a technical issue that the gm eventually had to come in and fix. The theme was cute and integrated into the puzzles, but the tech was extremely faulty. Aside from the aforementioned issue there were a few audio tracks that did not play, a few sensors that did not work, and it was difficult to hear some things open when the puzzles were solved. Maintenance in general was definitely an issue that affected the experience. Not terrible overall but nothing special.

This is a fun room and the first one that I’ve done with a commercialized theme. Very high budget room, multiple surprises, good use of technology, you can tell that they spent a good amount of time designing and creating this room so that it did its licensed characters justice. Yes, there are Scooby Snacks involved! This room is challenging for new comers so I recommend at least 4 people but definitely enough for 5-6 people.

As a kid who grew up watching and loving Scooby Doo, this was everything anyone that is/was a fan could ask for. As soon as the starting video played I instantly got lost in this world with how well the room and set were designed. There was never a second I was bored and as the game went on, the more I was drawn into the story. This game is definitely on the easier side with pretty basic and standard puzzles. This is easily the best room I’ve done at the Escapology business (and I’ve done quite a few). Highly recommend if you are or were a fan of the Scooby Doo franchise or if you are just looking for a fun room to do.

I always get wary of popular IP’s making their way into rooms but if you were a fan of the cartoons growing up (old school Hannah Barbara), this is everything you want out of an escape room. The sets are stellar with great references everywhere. This is marketed as a game for children and that shows in the complexity of the puzzle design but everyone can find something to enjoy in this game from the young to the young at heart.
