Kingdom Besieged

ALL HAIL THE KING! (me). Kingdom Besieged is such a fantastic medieval room, right up there with some of the best I've played in this genre, which is kind of crazy to me based off its generally mixed reviews. The puzzles were varied, interactive, clever and most importantly, never felt generic. I mean sure, it's a story about pulling a sword out of a rock but even that came with such a devious twist that I couldn't fault it either. Huzzah! Definitely on the trickier side, I can see how a fair few players can get tripped up if they're not paying attention but my solution to that one is to pay attention :-) Overall a clean, inspired design that felt like a breath of a fresh air, and while not as unique a theme as Forgotten Son, the content and flow here takes the win for me. On both visits here the staff have been wonderful, in this instance we were gifted cartoon drawings of both myself and my partner which was such a meaningful and unique addition to an already fun experience. Go play this room! (trust no one).

My Kingdom NEEDS me. I headed into Kingdom Besieged to restore glory to my kingdom and also to save my fool who was deviously captured prior to my arrival. After freeing said fool we proceeded to have a really great time!* As someone pretty partial to a medieval themed room I figured I was gunna like this one. The set design was a fun journey. Starting off in a dungeon area and then moving into the throne room to free the sword, classic but done really well. Some pretty tricky puzzles in this one. We were lucky to stumble through a few of them, only noticing important details later on in our crusade. A really entertaining experience and probably my preferred of the two here. We also received cute custom cartoon drawings from the staff here which is funnily enough the second time this has happened at this venue. Huzzah! *We did encounter a life-altering twist from which I have still not recovered.

Great room. Not a huge fan of the ball puzzle. Interesting and fun twist to the story at the end.

Had an interesting twist and was good fun, so deserves a thumbs up.

Staff here are absolutely fantastic and jumped right on board with an odd request when I needed to feed a bunch of friends through here as a part of a larger adventure. They went above and beyond to take care of us, matched our enthusiasm and were so understanding of the chaos of the day (and our elaborate costumes). The room itself was incredibly immersive with fantastic mechanical puzzles. I'm forever grateful for them!

Cool setup but lame puzzles. One of the puzzles could be interpreted in so many ways and consumed too much time.

Good room with a lot of logic puzzles and a skill based game needed to proceed. One of you will start chained up at the start of the room and the ending was unexpected and good.

We went as a group of 5 (1 adult, 4 kids) and had a solid time, though not on par with some of our best escape room experiences. Some might like the role playing aspect (especially kids), but I personally prefer a more traditional escape room. While the atmosphere was good for the most part, it was not as immersive because the quality of the props could be better. While most of the puzzles were good, there was one annoying dexterity puzzle that didn't fit the flow, and one puzzle that did not make much sense even when explained to us at the end (because it could be interpreted in multiple ways). On the positive side, we were given an extra 20 minutes after failing to escape in the initial hour.

It is a good room and experience and the twist at the end is what I will recommend for a slight bigger group to do this room
