The Legend Was Only the Beginning… Ichabod Crane was never found. Some believed he vanished. Others whispered that the Headless Horseman took him. But the truth was far more disturbing—Ichabod survived and spent the rest of his life consumed by dark obsessions. Hidden away in his family manor, he studied the occult and vowed revenge on the town of Sleepy Hollow. Now, more than 200 years later, the Paranormal Response Task Force believes one of his descendants has recovered the Horseman’s head… and plans to use it. Your mission: enter Crane Manor, uncover its twisted secrets, and recover the head so the Horseman can be put to rest for good.

121 escape rooms

This is the first room out of over 250 rooms for me and at least 150 for my guy, that says minimum number of people recommended is 4 where we agree because there are puzzles that work better and faster with 2+ people with how spread out the space is and the sound effects/music you need to talk over. But all in all it was very well laid out and runs smoothly if you pay attention around the room. Really great game! Highly recommend for enthusiasts and at least more escape room puzzle familiar players. If you aren't pretty familiar with escape rooms just bring more people with you. I would actually repeat this room a year or 2 from now when I've forgotten the puzzles because it was fun. It's a well decorated space with puzzles that do take thought but your attention to detail makes all the difference in how you'll do. We would have escaped if we had at least 1 extra person with us because its a heavy puzzle room which really added to the fun for our date night. The game master was highly impressed with how we play rooms and communicate because it's a difficult room with only 2 people so many don't escape and we did with the extra 10 minutes she gave us since we were down at least 1 more person.

Gameplay

Flowed really well and if you paid attention, seeing how the puzzles connected to the clues was even more enjouable. Very well thought out room!

Atmosphere

Immersive experience with good decor. You may jump once max twice if your unnerved easily but its not a scary room.

Customer service

Great game master, front desk and phone assistance.

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

Creative puzzles, some of which I rarely see

Story

The puzzles were well joined into the story or style of the room. It made sense minus 1 puzzle that felt misaligned which I won't explain so I don't spoil anything.

Difficulty

Hard

For enthusiasts (100+ games played), it's hard because of the number of puzzles. If you had 4 enthusiasts you may rate it medium. If you haven't played enough to be very familiar with puzzles similar to those in the room you may rate it expert.

2 possible scares if you are jumpy but its not a scary room.

With adults age 12, no adults age 16 recommended. Because of the creative thinking that comes with experience that is needed in some areas.

Funky part lot with double deep spaces and very few spots but there is a garage nearby apparently.

My fiancé and I have probably done around 50 escape rooms together at this point, and we both agreed that this is one of if not the best escape room we’ve done. Creative puzzles that are challenging but make sense. Multiple rooms. And SO immersive with incredible ambiance and effects. We completed the room with just the two of us and used two clues. Our game master Lisa was so friendly, kind, and encouraging, which was just the icing on the cake. Could not recommend more highly! My fiancé’s contribution: HELL YEAH BROTHER!

This is a puzzler’s paradise of a room. Basically every type of puzzle you can think of is thrown at you, and it all is executed brilliantly. Easily a perfect intro to horror-based rooms. Steven was an amazing host - if I’m in the area again, will be making time for another ClueIQ game.

Gameplay

LOTS of different puzzles, going from math to logic to observation to word. Nothing felt like a leap on logic at all, and it was very clear what led into what.

Atmosphere

Literally felt like you opened the door to a colonial-era manor. Beautiful design, and the horror elements are really well done with everything feeling realistic and purposeful.

Customer service

Steven was an awesome GM - talked with our group about reality TV competition for like 20 minutes beforehand and it was clear he REALLY cared for us.

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

There is a LOT to do here - and the theme was something i haven’t seen exactly anywhere else.

Story

Everything felt like it continued to drive the plot as to why you were there in terms of breaking in to retrieve Ichabod’s head.

Difficulty

Hard

There are a LOT of different types of puzzles, some with multiple steps where you need to interpret things correctly. There are multiple locks that could take the same code at points, but the right box is almost always obvious. We didn’t require hints but we’re a VERY experienced group.

Game tech

Mechanical

A lot of locks - however, there is absolutely tech in this game and it’s mainly there to enhance the horror elements.

Ideal number of players

6

4-6 dependent on your group’s experience. The starting area for the first 3rd is a little cramped for 7+ but you ABSOLUTELY need 4 people to solve everything, with that group being split down the middle on different paths.

Scary

Spooky

Some jumpscares throughout with good effect, but no crazy gorey environments or live actors.

Minimum age

13

Definitely some loud jumpscares and general theme that would scare young kids. Puzzles could also go over their heads very quickly.

Was anything broken?

No

Live actors

No

Physically active

Not at all

At most, crouching was needed sometimes to look at something.

Accessibility

Audio puzzle at one point, lots of text to read - some high up or with intentional miswriting / changed characters - and moments of darkness + jumpscares.

Easy to find location

Yes

Parking

Medium

You will need to grab a parking space on the street nearby, but there should be some open and easily payable via app.

This was our favorite room at Clue IQ (they’re all good, this was just the best!). Lots of unique puzzles, multiple things to be working on at one time, big space to navigate, immersive and fun theme, everything you could ask for in an escape room!

All around good! The puzzles, the mechanisms, and the set design were great. The intro was a bit lacking but the room itself is worth the hype

Great room with clever puzzles. They claim the room is “non-linear,” and there are certainly a lot of puzzles you can choose from to solve at just about every point in the game.

If you are an escape room enthusiast you will absolutely love this room. We were in awe with how large the rooms were and how good the puzzles were. The puzzles were very fun and challenging enough to really make you think but not frustrate you. The atmosphere and mechanisms were very interesting and kept us smiling the whole time.

Awesome room! Puzzles were fun. I think the set was kind of meh but it fit the story and overall vibe of the room. Some creepy elements and loud noises, but No jump scares so all my fellow anxious friends should be okay :)

  • It was an unusual and puzzley escape game, and well worth checking out if you’re from the area.
