Old Sparky

the theming was very sparse - fluorescent lights on and very little theatricality. one of the puzzles was already solved for us when we got to it, and honestly we were relieved because it felt more like a time waster than a solid puzzle.

A sparsely decorated room with the one big gimmick (the electric chair one player starts strapped into). After the intro, becomes a fairly generic old-fashioned room, with most of the challenge coming from things being obscured or confusing. There was no sense of flow or momentum. Also, we found a pad of paper but they were surprised afterwards when we asked them if we were supposed to have had a pen to go with it, so a problem with the room reset it seems. A pen would’ve helped!

We played this room with four adults and a one year old and got through at a lackadaisical pace. Puzzles were mostly straightforward gen 1 but there were a couple confusing/slightly frustrating ones that we got bottlenecked on. What I like about 101 Escape rooms is that they have a lot of rooms running so it’s usually possible to book last minute.

Old sparky didn’t work because wires were pulled. I read the reviews. It hasn’t been working for months even though they claimed a group before us did it. This room was boring. Most of the puzzles were on a bookshelf.

Fun room, medium difficultly. There is a logic to solving these puzzles (except one which was a little wtf). The staff was friendly and efficient, which made for a great experience.
