Panic! At The Escape Room

I chimed in with a haven’t you people ever heard of? Escaping the goddamn room? Yes. A fun and unique experience that is easy to overthink, there’s a lot to like about this room. A one room escape but done really well, the simplicity of the theme balanced perfectly with the challenge of the puzzles. A little worn in parts but no tech faults or anything to write home about.

Panic! PANIC! (At the escape room). This was actually my first time playing a genuine panic room/doomsday bunker themed room and I ended up having a really great time due to how Escapade approached and executed it. The room and concept themselves are inherently goofy with plenty of jokes and curveballs thrown at you as you attempt to keep yourself safe from attackers and solve the crime in progress; it was really well thought out overall. Much like Heirloom, some of the puzzles will punish you if you’re not really paying attention with a heap of props and gadgets to play around with. I’m a bit of a sucker for a one-room escape room done cleverly so this one is a big yes for me. Even after cranking out 8 escape rooms in one day, playing this one last still felt exciting and fresh. Great fun.

Thankfully I was able to participate in this room. For those who get motion sickness this room is on a little angle but not as noticeable as Escapades other room, Heirloom. This experience felt much more interactive as the game master would radio in with updates. There were a few tricky puzzles that my friends and I had to lock in for, but a very good range of puzzles for all sorts of players. Again, a common trait I'm seeing with Escapade, the set dressing is believable and everything felt in place. Feels the owners really put a lot of thought into the overall vibe.

The room and concept was good. There were a lot of glitches with tech and locks which unfortunately detracted from our experience. Often we didn't know if we did something right and the lock was broken, or we were doing the wrong thing. Our GM was still helpful and engaging. If everything worked as designed it would have been a much better experience.

Good theme to the room, some good puzzles. Simple styling in the room. Few glitches with some of the puzzles, where the GM had to come in & reset something, but nothing that spoilt the experience.

Out of all three rooms at this venue, this was our preferred room. It had a good storyline and puzzles were intuitive and interesting. However, their purpose didn’t always make sense and completing some of the puzzles was not necessary to escape the room.
