The room was beat up, nearly everything was torn up in some way - molding torn off of walls, bent frames/cabinets, broken pieces, torn books. There was a group of (probably intoxicated frat boys) immediately before us, that the GM said absolutely wrecked the room. They didn't disclose how bad the room was until we confronted them after.
On top of the obviously recently destroyed items, puzzles that could not have been tampered with also did not work. A mirror puzzle that reflected lasers did not align properly, a mechanical slide mechanism jammed which was not immediately obvious and prevented us from reaching certain needed components, they had UV paint that looks like it has not been touched up since the place was built and made it nearly impossible to see. Due to all of the issues we made it though about 3/4 of the room.
When we discussed the issues with the GM, they apologized, disclosed the extent of the damage caused by the group before us, but did not explain why we were not offered a different room when they knew this room was not in a condition to be played. They also offered us a partial refund, which I don't think we every actually received.
This is not the first room we did with this location, and 2/2 have not worked and were literally broken.
