3 escape rooms
Genuinely one of the most immersive and unique rooms I've ever experienced. The set design, atmosphere, music, characters and hosts all work together to bring you in to the world of The Crumbling Prince. I have recommended this room to so many people and each time they tell me it is now their favourite escape room experience. It's clear the Ukiyo team have worked hard to develop this story and I cannot wait to see how it unfolds in upcoming rooms. I won't talk about the plot here because it is a story you should experience for yourself, but it really is something special. If you are ever in Melbourne this is an absolute MUST PLAY.
Gameplay
So much fun! The Crumbling Prince is deeply immersive and the gameplay allows for fun collaboration with not just your team but also the characters in the room. Each player has their own mask with distinct abilities so you all have something unique to contribute tot he gameplay as your progress.
Atmosphere
Set design was incredible, it looks to be professional and well built. The lighting, sound and even the scent are all so well curated. The Ukiyo team has really created an immersive room and I can't wait to try more rooms.
Customer service
Our host was amazing! We felt welcomed and immediately part of the environment. It is an immersive experience from the moment you walk through the door.
Particularly interesting or different
Yes
It's different to most escape rooms, which is a huge plus. If you want to beat the fastest time this may not be the room for you. But if you like Studio Ghibli, The Legend of Zelda or any kind of lore/deep story telling then this is the room for you. It's so immersive and the room itself is incredibly well made. There's even a river in the room! It's a place to get lots in and become a part of the world. There's not many experiences out there like it.
Story
This is by far the best story I've ever experienced in an escape room. We played The Crumbling Prince Part 1 and had to book Part 2 immediately so we could continue the story. I don't want to give anything away but if you do play this room make sure you ask lots of questions and engage with The Prince, we uncovered a lot of lore by doing this.
Difficulty
Medium
It's not a super difficult room but that means you wont miss out on lore or character interactions. I appreciate the balance the Ukiyo team have clearly worked hard to achieve between interesting puzzles and story.
Game tech
High tech
While the room appears to be low tech, it gives kind of a low vibe, the characters are definitely high tech! Genuinely impressed with the lighting and programming that must have gone into the characters.

4
Four players would be ideal because they have four masks but they allow for groups of 2-6 players.

Not a scary room, there are some lighting changes that may startle some people but it is not designed to be a horror/spooky experience.

I think kids would enjoy this room but it would depend on if they like rooms with story or prefer to be racing against the clock. This room is for those wo want to immerse themselves in the world and uncover the lore.
Was anything broken?
No
Really well made puzzles and the room blew us away.
Live actors
No
No live actors. But not only was The Prince an amazing character to interact with, there were also several other characters to talk to. I don't want to say more as it should be experienced firsthand.
Physically active

There was some bending/crawling so be aware of this. Otherwise it is not a particularly physical room which was great. There is a river in the room so watch your step!
Accessibility
People with mobility restrictions should call ahead to make sure they will be able to access the room. There is a ramp into the room and I did not see any stairs in the building which is awesome but there may be some restrictions in accessing a small part of the room. Anyone with sensory needs should call ahead as they can adjust lighting/music on request.
