The Russian submarine K-129 has mysteriously disappeared 20 years ago. It was last seen in the North Pacific Ocean. The vessel has a dangerous nuclear load on board and to this day has not been located. It is crucial that this submarine is found before it falls into the wrong hands. The controversial journalist Hugo Laanen has been interested in this mystery for a long time. He has kept files with all his findings. However, it seems he has gotten cold feet now. Some even suggest he ran from the Russian secret service. His study room in the Amsterdam Houthaven is still left untouched… This escape room starts in his abandoned office. From there you are taken to the great depths of the North Pacific Ocean. In this exciting and technically advanced escape room nothing is what it seems. Can you solve the mystery in time?

My first virtual escape room!  Our Avatar (I can't remember his name) was great and helped set the scene, as with a lot of rooms we had window on Zoom and another giving access to the inventory and 360 view of the room.  The look around was well done and it changed as the environment changed, we got into one room and it was dark, the overview reflected that, when we got the lights on, the overview changed in line.  The storyline involved a missing journalist trying to find a lost submarine, a couple of the environment changes were a bit jarring but overall the effect was well done.  Speaking to the avatar, they had changed a couple of the puzzles as they were mean't to be done by more than one person but the majority of the room was left as intended.

The Submarine was our second game we did with work collegues (it was their second or third experience ever) on the same day, the experience maintained the quality of puzzles and immersive environment. While both rooms were meant to be connected story-wise, I didn’t pick up on that at all—most likely too focused on solving puzzles! However, one section truly captured the feeling of being inside a submarine, which added to the overall atmosphere. A fun challenge, still worth doing for both beginners and seasoned escape room enthusiasts. Right after The Liberman Conspiracy, we took on The Submarine, my 7th escape room. Like the first, the puzzles and environment were enjoyable, and there was a section that really nailed the feeling of being inside a submarine. The game was supposedly connected to The Liberman Conspiracy in terms of story, but at the time, I didn’t pick up on that—probably too focused on solving puzzles. Still, it delivered a solid experience and is worth playing for both beginners and seasoned escape room enthusiasts.

Solid gameplay and good puzzles (some were very creative) but there weren't very many puzzles in the room. Generally the rooms felt a little bare, and the storyline wasn't very strong. Wasn't a bad experience, but wasn't worth the high price tag.

  • There aren’t a huge number of puzzles in this game, but many of them are quite hard.
