88 escape rooms

So, the room itself was okay and had some cool elements. I would struggle to call it an escape room though, it's more of a haunted house. The minimum 4 stinks. And having an in game element that means a player could end up tagged out for an entire game is awful. There should be a mechanic to solve something to tag them back in, it’s super exclusionary unnecessarily. Or an option to do 2 people without a live actor, or even just make the actor optional and only available for groups of 4 or more. Also, the game master has to give constant clues and help with broken areas. They give clues regardless, throughout the game, but he had to literally jam a few things open. Things were literally handed to us, including an actual key. Which was annoying, but probably needed because we were paired up with kids and the live actor is constantly making it impossible to progress. The staff was super nice though, and the callouts at the end is cool. They're very in character and do a good job with their acts. It just didn't feel like an escape room, and we don't really want to do any more with this company.

Gameplay

The fact that the live actor touching you means that you’re out for the rest of the game is ridiculous, it made it super stressful to have them in the room, and slowed us down a ton. They're also out all the time, so you are constantly having to stop what you're doing to avoid them, which gets old fast.

Atmosphere

Very immersive, the actor and GM were both very in character.

Customer service

Staff was super nice and welcoming.

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

Having a live actor was super different, lots of interesting puzzles.

Story
Difficulty

Hard

It’s a hard room, but because it’s a random group that’s a roll of the dice. The game master and live actor are in the room giving constant clues and help, and constantly having to fix things. So we skipped some steps because the game master was helping the kids we got paired with. Also, the live actor makes it so you can’t work on anything in peace, because if you try you’ll get tagged out for the whole game.

Game tech

Mechanical

There is some tech, but it’s mostly mechanical.

Ideal number of players

10

You have a minimum of 4, but you need more to “distract”

Scary

Scary

Minimum age

10

There's a live actor in scare SFX chasing you, so older kids only.

Was anything broken?

Yes

Game master was going around and physically opening things that didn’t open properly. There’s a magnet portion but the thing it magnets to is too small and the magnet is cracked. Several tech locks took several tries

Live actors

Yes

If they touch you, you're out for the rest of the game.

Physically active

Somewhat

You have to avoid the actor, so occasional running.

Accessibility

I would say not, because you’re constantly having to run from the actor. But it’s flat.

Easy to find location

Yes

Parking

Easy

Now closed so it's irrelevant but I like to review all of my games. This was one of my first escape rooms and I enjoyed the experience.

  • While not everything made sense in the gamespace, this was a lively and playful escape room.
