35 escape rooms

This was easily the worst escape room experience we've had. We really wanted to like this location, but this room was rough. Issues started with the instructions for the room, with the game master telling us not to look certain places for clues and not to do certain things. Unfortunately, several of these instructions were incorrect, and we were later told to do these things during the game. This easily cost us 20 min of game time. At least one item in the room did not work correctly, and we had to tap it several times to get it to power on (seemed to be a battery issue). The puzzles were challenging only because of incorrect instructions and the way the room is designed. Several items involved in puzzles are displayed in multiple places during the game, which made it very difficult to determine what information was actually used for the puzzle and what wasn't. Also, as others have mentioned, information could solve several puzzles, and you just have to keep trying until you find the correct one. The storyline was minimal. We love rooms that aren't linear, and we don't have an issue with rooms not being over-the-top with decor or technology... but this just wasn't a good experience. I see that other rooms at this location are viewed positively, so we may give it another go at some point, but this just wasn't a great first impression.

130 escape rooms

I will be honest, after playing Castle Conundrum at Liberation (pretty good room), Witchin Kitchen just needs to be done. This room was a major disappoint from the INSANE amount of locks and key clues all the way down to the vague storyline. I understand a non-linear clue path, but this room just straight up no excuses doesn’t work. Having access to no kidding 3 physical key locks of different sizes and 10+ letter/number locks of the same lengths at the same time is just lazy. This room needs a major technology facelift or restructuring of the story/clues. I do not recommend this room for any experience levels or ages, find another room.

Gameplay

The flow of this room was all over the place, the game master told us it was not linear before we started I’m assuming from prior complaints.

Atmosphere

Set design wasn’t awful as a witches kitchen, but not much was interactive or used.

Customer service

Staff was nice and attentive. GM was quick with clues.

This room was not one we enjoyed. It felt like info was just everywhere. There were a lot of locks with the same amount of numbers and letter requiring you to try every guess in a number of locks only to find out the order was backwards and then you'd have to try them all again. The room was not story driven. We just didn't enjoy this room. The problem is that there is a ton of information that doesn't line up, information that seems relevant but isn't used, and just no flow whatsoever. Finding a code just means that it has to be tried in every lock in the room, with no guarantee that it's correct because the logic doesn't actually check out for most of these. Very frustrating room, we don't recommend it.

Billed as the “hardest” room this location has to offer, we were excited to give it a try. Sadly, it was “hard” because the puzzles were obtuse and really had to reach to make the connections. My teammate and I were both disappointed, especially after having played Castle of Conundrums. If you’re going to play a game at this location, skip this one and play Castle of Conundrums
