As someone who’s played a lot of rooms, I can confidently say Room 1985 is an absolute standout—one of the most entertaining, immersive, and surprisingly layered games I’ve experienced. From the opening sequence, this room hooks you with a unique intro that perfectly sets the tone of what you’re about to experience. The production value is top-tier, the transitions are seamless, and the puzzles are embedded in the environment in a way that keeps momentum high and frustration low. The room flows beautifully, with multiple parallel paths and interactive moments that keep every player busy. Puzzle density is solid, with a variety of logic, searching, task-based, and tech-driven elements—nothing felt repetitive or filler. We played as a family group: myself, my wife (44 rooms), my dad, and my 4-year-old daughter (both first-timers). The brilliance of Room 1985 is that it’s not just enthusiast-friendly—it’s family-friendly without sacrificing depth. My daughter was fully engaged throughout, thanks to clever design choices that included sorting and task-based elements perfect for younger players or non-puzzlers. She got to search, organize, and interact with the space in meaningful ways, and had a blast doing it. We finished in about 52 minutes, but I’d recommend 6–8 players to fully enjoy the parallel gameplay. There’s a lot to do, and the room is designed so that everyone can be involved at all times—no spectators here. Without spoiling anything: if you’re into retro gaming, ’80s pop culture, or just appreciate a well-paced narrative-driven room with some wild surprises, this game is a must. There are multiple “wow” moments, and a few fun nods for fans that hit just right—like the designer is giving you a wink mid-game. Heather, the owner, was fantastic—super responsive and accommodating with a same-day booking. And Cody, our gamemaster, did a stellar job setting the tone, explaining the rules clearly, and delivering well-timed, minimal nudges that respected our experience level. He also went out of his way to engage with our daughter, making her feel like part of the team before we even stepped into the room. Bottom line: if you’re an enthusiast looking for something unique, nostalgic, and genuinely fun from start to finish—Room 1985 delivers in every way. Don’t miss this one.

Google maps tells you to park in some random lot, but you should parallel park directly in front of the venue on the street.
Easy
Don’t park in the lot or you’ll get lost. You need to parallel park directly in front of the venue.

My first escape room! Super fun theming and energy. Good surprises, and easy enough puzzles with some small challenges.

Wonderfully nostalgic 80’s themed escape room. Felt like a kid again! Better get here fast this room is going away soon! Thanks Cody!

A fun room with definite nostalgic 80's vibes and lots to do. Very much in the classic ER mode as far as design and puzzles. Some equipment was a little stuck, but the very attentive and friendly GC was on top of things and got us going again right away.

Fantastic room! One of their oldest ones but it’s full of classic 1980’s nostalgia and every task is pretty intuitive. Ariel was a fantastic inn keeper who got us pumped up before we got started and celebrated with us when we escaped by giving us each a prize. The prize is specific to each escape room so you can collect them all!
Novel room set up
Totally 1980’s
Ariel was a fantastic inn keeper!

We came up from La and we had an amazing time. We did it with 3 people and I think the room is probably street suited to a few more. Cody did a great job as game master! We loved the production value, story, and set. We would definitely come back.

We escaped from the 1985 room and it was SO much fun! Heather was our innkeeper and she was wonderful and super helpful. The room was filled with great puzzles and the entire experience was immersive. You feel like you actually traveled back to 1985. Awesome room and amazing staff! Would 100% recommend!
The puzzles were very fun. You have to think creatively and work as a team. Everything flowed so well and seamlessly.

Another great and well thought out escape room by the Locked Inn. So much to see. Wonderfully themed but definitely more appreciated by those who were lucky enough to be part of the 1980s. Our teenage daughters were annoyed at how excited we were about all the throwbacks. The puzzles were unique and many were specific to the 80s theme. The doors that open and close to new rooms are never where you expect! Once again, a great hostess in Ariel. This place is so memorable!

Absolutely easily the best and my favorite escape room I've done so far, and I've done a bunch of these throughout California. Cody did an incredible job hyping us up with enthusiasm and man, incredible details, extremely creative puzzles, incredible '80s details, truly enjoyed the progression. I had two novice friends with us, one his first time, everyone seriously had a blast. Amazing room. We will be doing all rooms here, the Alice and soon the Nightmare Before Christmas room. Can't wait. Well done here guys.
This is a private experience for your group
This room is 100% accessible.
Comfortable shoes! Preferably closed toe, sneakers, etc. Guests often report getting warm due to the excitement of searching for clues. Some of your team may need to crawl, kneel, sit on the floor, dress accordingly. Bring your reading glasses as well! Guests must be over the age of 13. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian. We are very flexible with the age limit provided there is enough supervision. One adult per 3 children is required.
