The Grand Portobello Hotel Heist

Really enjoyed this one, lots of great puzzles and different types, required lots of team work and it ran really nicely as a story too

probably the hardest room i’ve completed to date! tricky puzzles that kept my team frustrated in the best way possible. the set design was incredible and each puzzle made sense and led you onto a new pathway. the beginning made us all laugh so much we forgot we had puzzles to solve!!

I completed this room as a group of two and with it being their hardest room I was worried that we would not escape. This was not the case!! The room was design perfectly and led us onto the next puzzle easily. Even if you had a puzzle which you could not solve instantly when you found the clue, you knew what to refer back to. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING. In this room has a purpose for being there which I loved and there were no red herrings. Our games master (Lily) was extremely helpful and enthusiastic about the room which was refreshing to see and we managed to talk for a while about escape rooms afterwards. There is a glimpse of a live actor however that is only momentarily at the start and is not scary in any way at all. Parking was efficient as it is listed on their website. I would suggest people to do this room if you are in the area and even if you aren’t… travel to it!!

Highly recommend this room!! Our game master Lily was so lovely and seemed to genuinely enjoy the job which always makes the rooms 10x better. She was strategic with clue giving, and allowed us to work on each puzzle on our own, only giving us a clue to nudge us back on track when really necessary. Everything in the room had a purpose which I loved and was well thought-out. There were a range of puzzles to complete, some more difficult than others which kept the room interesting and engaging. Rated a 5/5 difficulty it was hard but not impossible which was great. The room layout was great and fit the theme, and would be perfect for teams of 2-5. A really fantastic escape room :)
