I really liked this room! It was fun and creepy. I love scary rooms and this one was incredibly fun. There were only two puzzles we got stuck up on, but it was smooth sailing after that. We were changed to advanced without us knowing so I don’t know what puzzle was included versus not but I felt like the puzzle I THINK was included was not that difficult. We did solve one puzzle without doing the puzzle and the gamemaster informed us that no one has ever done it but she allowed us to do the right puzzle while pausing our time which was really nice. I recommend if you enjoy these types of rooms.
This room flowed really well! I think we got stuck on like 2 puzzles because it was hard to get a clear direction on where to go next.
I really liked the atmosphere! I’ve done a lot of scary rooms and this room was the first that made me feel uncomfortable.
Our gamemaster for this room was awesome. I really liked her sense of humor even as the kidnapper came in I was having a blast. The hint system was really cool in this room and even then she was funny.
Yes
I mean. It’s a serial killer room. You can expect the same across but they had some really interesting puzzles that made it extremely unique.
My husband caught up on the story but I didn’t really see a story. He told me after what happened but I just don’t pick up on those things.
Medium
So. Before the game, we were asked if we wanted standard or advanced. We asked how dark the room would be because we are not good at dark rooms (we’ve done two and even though they were fun, we are just terrible at them). She said it was going to remain pretty dark so we took the standard room because we knew we were just not going to be good at it. Little did we know, at the end, she informed us that she switched it to the advanced. We made it out with three minutes left. I didn’t feel like the advanced was too difficult? I’m saying this because I don’t know what the standard one entails. Even though we got hung up on two puzzles, we flew through the room.
Mechanical
Not a lot of maglocks.

I believe 4 is the limit. It was a little tight for 2 people.
Spooky
The opening interaction was the spookiest part. The game itself was not that scary, it was just uncomfortable. But in a good way.

This would probably freak out some younger kids.

Same with down the rabbit hole, an interaction at the beginning but was alone after that.
Somewhat
There is one part where you have to crawl, but not very active.
It does have small rooms with large props that take up a lot of space. You will be in the dark for some of the game. No color or sound based puzzles.

Before the game, we were offered the choice of standard or advanced mode; we chose advanced. This adds a puzzle or two. There's also a secondary quest, but I think the intended solution isn't clued very well, and our proposed solution made more sense. Puzzles were generally good and the set felt appropriately creepy. One puzzle involved a neat mechanic we hadn't seen used in an escape room before. I think the very beginning could have been tweaked to be more player-friendly and less frustrating. Not directly related to the game, I'm not clear on why the pre-game orientation had to happen in a nearly-dark room. It's atmospheric, I guess, but I found it more annoying than thematic. I did like the GM's whimsical way of leading us into the room.
Noah was great, both as a GM and to talk to after the game

The game is pretty linear, so 2-4 is probably fine.

There's not a ton of parking, and it's shared with other establishments. Spaces are a little small.

Our GM ruined what was otherwise a brilliant room! We wasted several minutes on a code when we were given the wrong directions. Otherwise we would have easily completed the room! *edit: we spoke with the owner who was extremely understanding and received excellent customer service.

Edit: We had the misfortune of having a GM who did not follow protocol and stopped us just before we escaped instead of allowing us to complete the last puzzle ourself and also gave us the wrong instructions for a puzzle which cost us time. However the room itself was very nice and after speaking to the owner, we were given a discount booking. This room should be very rewarding for anyone who is allowed to complete the whole room.

Would absolutely recommend any of Final Door's rooms to anyone. Blackout is easily in our groups top 20 of the almost 200 rooms we've played. A unique and very immersive take on the "oh no you've been kidnapped by a serial killer" game that you don't want to miss.
Loved the unique gameplay, we really liked the live bugs
Very immersive, loved that you felt like you went through an entire house and that your first space is lit by lightning flashes only

While we've done plenty of "you've been kidnapped" rooms this one felt very complete
