201 escape rooms
Our team of 8 visited Mysterium for a fun outing. The group dynamic was mixed: 3 were first-timers, the rest had minimal experience (1-2 rooms), while I brought more seasoned expertise. Despite this range, the room offered plenty of puzzles to keep everyone engaged. Highlights: • The puzzles were well-crafted and engaging, with enough variety and challenge for a diverse group. • The room’s design and environment were acceptable, though not particularly immersive or standout. • The introduction by the game master was enjoyable and set the tone well. Drawbacks: • The follow-up video was entirely in Dutch, which was disappointing for non-Dutch speakers and detracted from the experience. • Clues needed to be requested in a specific way, which might work well for smaller groups but felt counterproductive for a larger team. It disrupted the flow of the game and led to some frustration within the group. Recommendation: Mysterium is a solid choice for mixed-experience groups, offering an enjoyable and balanced challenge. However, I’d caution against bringing a team of complete beginners, as some puzzles might be overwhelming without guidance. Additionally, larger groups may find the clue-requesting system impacts the overall flow. For seasoned players, this room is fun but might not provide the depth or immersion sought. Overall, a good option for a team activity, but with some considerations depending on group size and experience levels.
