Wonderful room for a small town escape room company, which to me is a category in itself for enthusiasts. It’s very low key in decor and story but had several engaging and creative puzzles to be solved. This is a multi-track experience which we love. No, this isn’t as high tech or elaborate as rooms from larger companies, but of you are an escape room fiend or live in the Cabot area than this is worth the money and time.

Very sweet staff. A hair over zealous on giving hints, but I also sort of understand when most of their clientele probably haven’t done an escape room.

Thank you for this positive review. Yes - we tend to cater to the newer escape room population as that's what we see in Cabot and surrounding areas. Not a lot of tech for sure but we are working on incorporating more of that as we learn!! We love the decor from the cabin to the forest and then a campsite!!

Definitely way better than the other room at this location. The decorations were cute and I like the non-linear aspect of the puzzles. The puzzles were simple, but they functioned well so they were fun. Only one was annoyingly convoluted.

Gameplay

I liked the non-linear aspect of the puzzles

Atmosphere

Simple but cute theming

Customer service

She was very sweet but she gave us hints when we didn’t want them, including coming into the room once to tell us how to solve a puzzle as I was in the process of solving it (correctly)

Overall, an entertaining escape room with a couple of frustrating clues. For the most part, the room is linear and about intermediated difficulty. The theme was consistent and it was somewhat immersive. We'd done one other room at this location and a couple of the clues were consistently difficult/frustrating/not clear like the other, more difficult, room (we think they identified that they design their own escape rooms). Because the Escape Spot is also part of the Popcorn Spot it seemed like occasionally we weren't quite getting the full attention of our game master who offered a couple of unnecessary clues and came into the room twice, the second time as part of finishing the room (strange). However, we do recommend this room as the majority of the puzzles made sense and were enjoyable.

Gameplay

The gameplay flowed well. There were some clues readily available that eventually led to a linear solution. The "cabin" theme was consistent. This wasn't unique but the design made it fun.

Atmosphere

The design was consistent with the "cabin" theme and was mostly immersive. There were no significant special effects but the simplicity was enjoyable. The props were, for the most part, well-designed and consistent with the theme. Nothing interrupted the immersion experience.

Customer service

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. However, booking the room eventually required a phone call since the website asked the user to sign into an account or request a password reset (that we never received). The GM acknowledged people had difficulty but offered no solution. The GM's intro was a little disorganized and she let us know immediately (SPOILER ALERT) that there are multiple rooms and we'd spend the majority of our time in the first one. She also explained a couple of other quirks that may have been helpful for beginners but interrupted the experience for us. She also asked (unlike any of the other 50+ rooms we'd done) if we wanted clues when she thought we were stuck or if we wanted to ask for them. We made the mistake of taking the former which may have led to our receiving clues prematurely a couple of times. She also came into the room at one point when we were stuck, possibly because she'd given us a "canned" clue and she thought we needed more assistance(???). That broke the game up a little especially since we finished with almost 10 minutes remaining. They are human and may have seen something we were missing. The "mastering" wasn't as smooth as most places, but there were some notable eccentricities in some of the clues. Overall, our GM did a good job helping us.

Particularly interesting or different

No

Not particularly interesting or different, but still fun.

Story

The plot was consistent through to the end.

Difficulty

Hard

Overall, the game was medium-hard. Most puzzles were straightforward but there were a couple of twists that threw the game into the more difficult realm. We'd seen that same consistency when we played one of their more difficult rooms in the past. There are some red herrings that made some solutions seem obvious but they intended something else to be a part of the solution. Without those twists this game would have been medium difficulty and more achievable for beginners-to-moderately experienced.

Game tech

Mechanical

Mechanical, but still fun with lots of locks and lots of puzzles with solutions provided mostly at the right times.

Ideal number of players

4

3-4. The game space gets limited the further into the room players get.

Was anything broken?

Yes

A piece of string came off of a sign that was easily repairable while we played. Overall, the game was in good condition with no issues.

Accessibility

Easily accessible. A little dark and as the game progresses mobility might be an issue for some as access to certain parts of the room decreases. No climbing and sound is a part of the play.

Easy to find location

Yes
