58 escape rooms
I played Escape the Clocktower on 7/9/26 as a walk in booking, we had been given a preview of another room and were interested in booking the soonest available game as the set we saw looked incredible. Right off the bat, there was a game component that had not been turned on and was blue screened in the room, we acknowledged it and attempted to notify our game master. We started out with the first puzzle but did not solve it until more than ten minutes had elapsed despite doing the puzzle correctly multiple times. It was clear that this was a broken game element and that our game master was not paying close enough attention to us playing to activate the puzzle when we needed. This was made worse by us asking for a clue and being told that we needed to do something we had already done. Our game master eventually noticed the blue screened game element which required another employee to enter the game for a little over five minutes. They did pause our time during this fix but we were not pulled out of the room during it, which felt odd. We then did the puzzle correctly and nothing happened. We tried to do a bunch of other things to no avail and then asked for a clue and then were told to do something we had already done. There was no soundtrack playing in the room which honestly, was uncomfortable. This room had a lot of puzzles that were very interesting, incredibly unique puzzles that I’ve never seen in an escape room before. The concept was interesting, the set was full of references to time traveling films and movies, and there were several moments during the game where I was genuinely in awe of the puzzles. I wanted to enjoy this room. It was nominated four years in a row to be a top contender in the world of escape rooms from 2019-2023, but it clearly needs a full overhaul to fix the broken elements and it definitely needs a far more attentive guide than Will (or whoever was actually running the game, if Will was covering the front like some other companies do). This company does offer shared experiences so if that isn’t your cup of tea, I would avoid coming here. The price point was honestly what drew us in, there aren’t a lot of escape rooms for two players that don’t cost a ridiculous amount of money. But this isn’t worth the money. I walked away wishing I had spent more money at a different escape room. (This was cross posted to google reviews)
Gameplay
There were a lot of interesting puzzles! Incredibly unique, but gameplay did not flow particularly well at times and there were two broken puzzles and a set up error at the beginning of our game that stunted our progress.
Atmosphere
The set design was really cool and there were a lot of interesting props but there was no music which made the atmosphere really uncomfortable.
Customer service
There were puzzles that were not fully functional in the room that clearly needed to be triggered by the guide so there were several points during the game where we did a puzzle correctly, nothing happened, we ask for a clue, and were told to do something we had already done correctly. It felt like our game master was not paying attention.
Particularly interesting or different
Yes
Time travel is not something I see super often and a lot of the puzzles were very unique.
Story
I liked the premise of the room, rescuing the professor of your time traveling class but the elements that included him were either full of red herrings or were broken (like a lot of stuff in this room)
Difficulty
Medium
It’ll definitely challenge you, especially if you’re new to escape rooms, but it’s not impossible. The hardest part is that there’s a few things that require leaps in logic.
Game tech
High tech
Lots of sensors but fits with the aesthetic and vibe of the room.
Ideal number of players
4
Played as an experienced team of two but could have definitely gone up to four comfortably. This company does offer shared experiences and you can pay to make it private.
Scary
Not scary
Minimum age
13
Was anything broken?
Yes
There was a blue screened game element at the beginning of the game that we attempted to notify them about and two instances to our knowledge where a puzzle needed to be triggered by the game master and it was not done until we asked for a clue about the puzzle and were told to do something we had already attempted.
Live actors
No
Physically active
Not at all
Accessibility
Absolutely accessible for folks in wheel chairs There is a part of the room that requires listening to put clips in order, there are no captions for the audio. There are some finer visual details
Easy to find location
No
The mall it is at is absolutely enormous and it’s in a weird side section area of it, we went from an area that was full of people to this area and it was completely dead, it was like being in a completely different mall.
Parking
Easy
Safety
Yes
