4 escape rooms
The puzzles were logical and followed a clear sequence. However, that’s about all I can say positively about this room. The set design and decoration was lacking, and the whole room was far too simplistic to be labelled as a difficult room when booking. Areas beyond the first locked door were sparse and disappointing, and none of the puzzles were particularly challenging. Most importantly, we should not have escaped a “hard” room in only 28 minutes. We only asked for one hint, so it’s not as though hint surplus was the issue.
Gameplay
It did flow well, and was simple to follow.
Atmosphere
The set was boring. The first room was well-dressed but the subsequent areas (once unlocked) were sparsely decorated and disappointing. No real special effects, beyond tv screens showing a storm outside, and which did not matter to the story.
Customer service
We finished the room and the GM didn’t even bother to stop our time or greet us until we had already sadly wandered back to the lobby. Felt very anticlimactic, and it was clear that they were not actually watching/listening to us at all.
Particularly interesting or different
No
Nothing was outstanding; no puzzles I haven’t seen before.
Story
Story was fine. Standard murder mystery, and the many paper props were at least detailed.
Difficulty
Easy
It was labeled as “hard,” which is why this was a disappointment. Getting out in 28 minutes (and only having used one hint) seems unfair, and almost a waste of money, truly. I was expecting a challenge and there was none. This is actually what prompted me to make this account, so I can leave this review. We should not get out of a supposedly HARD room with more than half of our time remaining— my whole group left feeling underwhelmed.
