408 escape rooms
I did the original version of this game six years prior & was curious to see what changed and which things I missed from the original game. First off, what stayed the same: duh, the fun factor, the intuitive puzzling and the flow. As always, TEG has that down to a science. What changed: the market actually got an upgrade! Both markets were realistic, but now things seemed even more accurate in the sense that a market place should look lively, almost festive. You should want to buy something from there versus a backroom or market in a cellar where something sinister is afoot. (And the funny thing is that if they have not changed things, I would have happily continue to praise the previous market because it really was spooky looking, but this change actually felt right.) But it's the second room which really demonstrates the actual revision and re-branding of the game, not just a tweak or two. The old game had you end up in an abandoned terrorist training room, where you had to figure out the puzzles and anticipate where they were planning their attack to stop them. It was good, although looking back, the set design was just OK and after doing a large number of "Stop the terrorist attack by deciphering their plans in their own lair" escape rooms, itβs really just common place. Bravo to TEG for changing things up. Now, it truly is the bad guys' lair, because you have an active nuclear weapon that you need to defuse! All the puzzles are completely redone with some being more science-based in dealing with the bomb itself. I would call version 2.0 a success all the way around and there wasn't anything they changed that I wished they kept. And I say all that thinking that version 1.0 was a great game! Come for EVERYTHING from The Escape Game at this location. You'll enjoy yourself!
