What an amazing and immersive game! Soooo many puzzles, really required our team of 2 to split up. Great ending - like every game at Escape the Netherworld!

I just loved this game. Tons of puzzles, lots to love. Some great bells and whistles. I do not know why this game is not getting more love from the Escape Room community. Great set some fantastic puzzles and just a fun experience. Great theme. It's nice to be able to play a game at this facility without the scare stuff.

After seeing all of the positive reviews, I had high hopes for this room, even to the point that my group was willing to pay 60 DOLLARS A PERSON. This was easily the most expensive room we've done, and to be honest, it was super underwhelming for the price. They said it was priced high because it was a private experience, which I've done much better private rooms for $45 a person. Here's what I didn't like about the room, as well as some things I liked: What I didn't like: 1. Most of the room was basic number combo locks, which is fine, but for this price point is unacceptable. 2. Most of the locks were broken/didn't work right. Our game master had to come in multiple times to fix certain things (you would think a company that charges $60 a person would be able to afford new combo locks). 3. The clue system was weird. We were allowed 3 "cheat" clues, which meant they would just give us the code to a lock. In my opinion, this shows the room was poorly designed. 4. Some puzzles gave you a code, but no way to figure out the order. So most of the room felt like trial and error (again, bad design). 5. This room threw way too much stuff at you at once, and had minimum table space, which caused disorganization. Here are some things I liked: 1. The set was well-built and cool. It even smelled like pineapples when we walked in there, nice touch 2. The staff was super friendly, and they all seemed passionate about their job. 3. There were some cool effects and one cool puzzle. My favorite part was the soundtrack. It brought the theme together. Overall, my main issue with this room was the price. If it were priced around $40-45 a person, I would have enjoyed it more. When we left, my group couldn't help but feel a little ripped off. My recommendation is to go to The Escape Game; they have much better rooms for half the price.

Another great room from this company. This hit the mark on so many levels. First off, an amazing set that really strikes you the moment you walk into the room. Are you in an escape room or at a luau? The puzzles have a nice flow and were intuitive. Like all of their rooms, the ending is very dynamic! There’s no way for me to say more without spoiling any surprises, but suffice to say, it’s epic! The Bigfoot room probably has a slight edge over this one, but it’s pretty close. If you can only do some of their rooms, I would put these two above the other two, although, as I have said before, you should stay and do all of them.

We embarked on a tropical getaway unlike any other at Escape The Netherworld's Tiki Island room. The theme was not merely a generic "tropical islands" setting, but a fully immersive experience that incorporated the mystical presence of tiki gods. Every element within the room, including the character portrayed by our game master, seamlessly aligned with the island hut theme. The puzzles were ingeniously crafted to complement the setting, with one particular puzzle featuring cutting-edge technology that we had never encountered in an escape room before. There were quite a few locks in the room, but the way they created the atmosphere made up for that. The way they used light and sounds for some fairly spectacular effects that really got your attention and focus was some of the best we've seen in a room so far. The way the story developed through the room was excellent, increasing the tension and excitement as the time went on. The conclusion was far from ordinary, offering a showstopping finale that left a lasting impression.

There is A LOT to do in this room. It’s definitely nonlinear. The room really immerses you into the theme. There’s always that element of surprise at the end which makes rooms here so great.

This was an extremely fun room with plenty to do to keep everyone engaged. There were an extensive amount of locks and we’d have liked to see a bit more variety. GM was fantastic and we loved the room.

This is a very puzzle-heavy room (which is just the way I like 'em) but still has some great props and set pieces, as you would expect from Escape the Netherworld. It plays pretty linearly, so I think you could finish it with 2, but we played with 5 and I don't think anybody felt like they were uninvolved. The "tiki island" theme is not one I think I have seen anywhere else, and everything in the room is on theme. The passage of time is nicely conveyed through radio broadcasts that describe the worsening situation outside. We had a great time. Highly recommended.

Gameplay

It's 95% boxes with all the usual types of locks on them, but every puzzle leans into the theme, so I didn't mind at all. The few puzzles that are electronic / environmental are cool and the special effects are surprising.

Atmosphere

Escape the Netherworld always delivers the highest standard of environmental immersion, including the sets, props, and audiovisual effects.

Customer service

The game master did a fantastic job of keeping an eye on us and staying in character while giving us just the occasional nudge when it was clear that we were failing to see something right in front of us. They'll tell you that you only get three clues but (a) that's not really a hard limit and (b) most of the puzzles in this room are straightforward. They want you to have a good time.

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

The game itself is really just a linear puzzlefest, but the theme makes it go down really smoothly and the puzzles are good. The theme is quite distinct and the ending effects took us by surprise (we thought it was great).

Story

The story is always there in the background, but until you get to the very end of the room it's not front and center. When they need you to pay attention to something, there's good use of special effects to make sure you're looking in the right place.

Difficulty

Easy

The room played very linearly for us; there are a couple of puzzles that can be solved in parallel, but most of the puzzles are straightforward so we just sort of ended up plowing through everything as a group. Everything solves cleanly and there are no "guess what I'm thinking" puzzles, so we never found ourselves wondering what to do next. There is a directional lock puzzle, but the way they've clued it, you definitely know when you have the right set of information, so it's much less annoying than the typical directional lock puzzle.

Game tech

Mechanical

Boxes with locks (some of which contain more boxes with more locks). But in a fun, Disney's Polynesian Resort kind of way.

Ideal number of players

3

Two people who are strong solvers (or one really strong solver) could finish this room (but there is a lot to do). With 3-5 you will still have enough to keep folks busy as there are a lot of puzzles. More than 5 and I think it would bog down since the structure is pretty linear.

Scary

Not scary

I mean, the "bad guy" is a shark god and the spirits of the island speak in a booming spirit voice. But if you could handle Disney's "Moana" then you can handle this.

Accessibility

Mostly accessible. One person has to crawl into an enclosed space (which they can then unlock to let everyone else through without crawling). Not a ton of room to navigate a wheelchair but you can see just about everything from the center of the room. Some interactions result in information given through audio messages.

Easy to find location

Yes

Parking

Easy

Parking at Escape the Netherworld is easy in every month *except* October. During October they are also running their massive haunted house attraction and it is very popular so parking becomes a complicated process and you'll have a short walk from the parking area to the venue (but they have a lot of staff to help direct traffic).
