The Spam Sham Scam Jam!

This was one of the four rooms we attempted in our mini marathon of escape!! If I looked at it simply as a collection of individual puzzles then it was a great time. If I looked at is as a concise escape room experience then it was slightly lacking. I can't quite put my finger on what it was that didn't feel quite right to me and to be fair it may just have been me having an off day. I love this group and have always had a great time while here. I will give it the benefit of the doubt and say the blame was on me.

Our fifth and final of the day to finish all the rooms at PuzzlEscape before they close. Thanks for the many years and many rooms.

Fun puzzle heavy room. Non linear and kept us all busy

Overall not too bad… we did have a couple mishaps where things that were suppose to happen didn’t happen. Our game master was patient and worked with us to help get through!

I’m not really sure what to think or say about this one. It was interesting and had a lot to do, but not one I really enjoyed. I was pretty frustrated for most of it even though we escaped

Puzzlescape has been a fixture of the local mass escape room scene for a while, with a large number of games and an emphasis on puzzling and ongoing characters. Unfortunately, while they are typically great, this game was a massive misstep. The game design is consistently frustrating, often requiring too many convoluted steps that are blandly written out. While they occasionally make use of thematic props, they tend to feel extremely out of place in the game world. The set is bland and unexciting, with little in the way of immersion. Ultimately, Scam Sham felt like a bad escape room bloated to 90 minutes by frustrating, nonsense process puzzles. Puzzlescape has done better and I’m sure they will either improve this game or continue to build experiences on par with their past games. For now, this game should be avoided in favor of Something Wicked or Legend of Pepe. UPDATE: They cancelled my booking for their new game, presumably based on this review. I can only say that this makes everything in this review feel much more true to me, including the inflated ego of the owner and the complete avoidance of actual feedback. I really feel for the owners, who have to close now, but this is not acceptable.
