Many consider Prison Break our most difficult escape room. Players are split into two different prison cells and must work together to get out of a 1950s style prison. A successful escape will include a sneaky trip to the warden’s office. An unsuccessful escape will land you in prison forever. Yes, those are real prison toilets….what can we say? We are obsessed with creating realistic environments.

We had a great time solving Prison Break. The two in my group were joined by a group of 3. I expected to not get through with just two people, but more heads are usually better. Between the 5 of us, we managed to escape with time left on the clock. The puzzles were plentiful and engaging with a few elements I hadn’t experienced before. 10/10 definitely recommend!

Gameplay
Atmosphere

The set design was great. Actual prison toilets!

Customer service

The staff was great and our GM was personable and helped when we asked or when they could tell we needed it

Particularly interesting or different

No

There were some elements that were interesting but I think as a whole the game was pretty straightforward

Story

Escape the prison. Not much to elaborate on.

Difficulty

Hard

With a good group, I’d call it medium-hard. A few of the puzzles were difficult to figure out exactly what we were supposed to do. If you’re 3 or less, it’s probably on the hard side.

Minimum age

There wasn’t anything unsuitable for kids, but the concepts and puzzles are better suited towards young adults and adults.

Was anything broken?

Live actors

Physically active

Somewhat

Without giving any hints, there are two parts that require some physical movement beyond standing and walking

Accessibility

There are a few elements that could prevent a wheelchair user from participating in all puzzles and one puzzle uses color. If at least one person playing is not in a wheelchair and not color blind, these won’t be an issue.

My fiancé and I would come redo a room at this company if Lauren could be our GM. We absolutely loved her. She made this room go from like to love because of how she started us off and finished the room with us.

Gameplay

Some of the puzzles at the end were a reach to understand, but I loved the interactive games in this room.

Atmosphere

The set was definitely what I would want for escaping. I also appreciate that there is always an option to get from room to room for people who aren’t able to fit through smaller places

Customer service

I absolutely loved Lauren. This was our last room to complete with this company. She was a bright spot for ALL the rooms we went to, but she was finally out GM on this one. Wonderful personality and generally just a great person.

Ideal number of players

We did it with 2, but we work together really well.

37 escape rooms

Definitely lives up to its difficulty rating. The atmosphere and rooms were very fitting and immersive, and the puzzles were also a fun challenge to solve (even though they didn’t fit into the theme as much as their other games.) Most of my complaints with the room are personal gripes, such as little story, the dim lighting with no flashlights and sudden loud noises. Despite that, I enjoyed the room and solving the more complex puzzles with our GM assisting when needed.

91 escape rooms

The Escape Game continues to be THE standard by which other escape rooms are measured. Everything about this room is well thought out, well put together, and worked well. Prison Break is the most difficult game at this location (according to The Escape Game rating) but was a lot of fun. The puzzles are challenging but clear, the game is completely immersive, and the flow is consistent. We've thoroughly enjoyed every experience at The Escape Game.

Gameplay

We've done two other prison escape games and this was by far the best. It flowed very well in that we had to solve the puzzles in specific locations to move on to the other locations, etc. It isn't completely linear but it was obvious as to what we had to solve before we could move on.

Atmosphere

The most immersive of the 3 prison escape rooms we've played. From the time we stepped into the room until the final door opened the entire environment was (stereotypically, since none of us have ever been in a real jail cell) realistic, and supported the objective. The engineering was top-notch.

Customer service

We've played games at 3 other "The Escape Game" locations in Nashville and they appear to only hire friendly and enthusiastic employees dedicated to players having fun. Harrison did a perfect job of waiting until we were clearly in need of a clue and/or asked for one before offering help. She was the 4th player on our team that made our experience successful.

Particularly interesting or different

No

Somewhat typical prison escape, similar to what we've done in the past, only put together extremely well.

Story

Good story and the puzzles all supported the plot.

Difficulty

Hard

There were a couple of challenging clues, especially toward the end as we were pressed for time. Not recommended for beginners, but with a few rooms under a team's belt this will present a nice challenge.

Game tech

Mechanical

A mix, but not as high-tech as some in that there were some physical locks and mechanical inputs. Much more than basic mechanical locks though. A good mix of tech.

Ideal number of players

6

We played with 3 but could have used a couple more players as we got toward the end to help solve puzzles in parallel. One portion of the game could not have supported more than about 6.

Scary

Not scary

Minimum age

8

The realism of the jail might trigger specific individuals (is that a thing) and might be a little scary for younger kids, although our GM made it very clear that we were never really locked in. The puzzles were a little more challenging and therefore might require a higher age.

Was anything broken?

No

Everything in this game was tight: well-designed, well-maintained, and in perfect working order.

Live actors

No

Physically active

Somewhat

The room was good size, required a little physical activity to manipulate puzzles, and required a little crawling. Not too much activity but more than some.

Accessibility

Fully accessible. A little dark, but a flashlight was provided where needed.

Easy to find location

Yes

Parking

Medium

The location is alongside a number of other businesses and we found a spot close to the front. There are larger parking lots available close by.

This was a great room! Highly recommend that you’ve had a couple of escape rooms under your belt because some parts are challenging especially if you don’t like using hints! You and your team will need to be good at communicating because you’ll start out being split up. Overall, great great room!

This was a more challenging than the others at this location, but still a lot of fun. A larger group, more than 4, is helpful. Still very enjoyable when mixed in with other families or smaller groups to make 1 party. Would do again!
