In the heart of Escaparium Laval's massive complex nestles a mysterious monument classified as a World Heritage Site, forgotten for several centuries: an ancient cathedral. Escaparium was built around this characterful building that once served as a sanctuary for a now extinct cult. Archaeological excavations and restoration of the monument have been underway for several years now. This allowed us to make major discoveries on the history of the cathedral and on a certain cult that we name, "The Order". Artifacts of rituals dating back centuries have been found and are currently being investigated. Come take the guided tour through the myths and legends of a forgotten past. A trip which you will never forget. (this is an escape game)!

"Sorry, does this game have subtitles?" Technical masterpiece with immersion-breaking audio flaws... Undoubtedly, a technical masterpiece filled with "wow" moments and unique puzzles, this game's convoluted plot coupled with garbled audio left me questioning at several points why we were doing the things we were doing (...and otherwise shouting to others "what did he just say?!") It is nevertheless an unforgettable experience and is probably one of the reasons you're in Montreal (...right?). So, I don't need to convince you to play this. :) Sadly, the audio was a real immersion breaker for me and really should be fixed (other reviews on here mentioned similar issues, so it's a known issue). It left me feeling unimmersed at a number of key moments and left the puzzles feeling disconnected from the story (our GM's voice was not only garbled, the music often drowned out the voice). The actor is also playing a character with an accent making it even further difficult to make out the words. A bummer because most everything else was firing on all cylinders.
The story is good, but it's quite convoluted, making me second guess why we're doing certain things at certain times.

An absolute masterpiece—a must-play! The set design and scenic immersion are among the best I’ve seen in any escape room. It genuinely felt like stepping into a Disney attraction—every detail was so polished, immersive, and cinematic. An unforgettable experience.

As with other Escaparium rooms, there is a lot of love and care put into this room and more than one "wow" moment. The sets are gorgeous. The acting and plot is fun. That said, we had a ton of issues with this room, from certain props / tools not working correctly, to puzzles being confusing, to major audio issues in the last room with hearing the game master. After experiencing their other incredible rooms, it was a bit of a disappointment. Still absolutely worth it to play, but my least favorite of their "big four" TERPECA rooms.

Forgotten Cathedral is magnificent. Amazing set and a solid flow throughout. A couple of the puzzles took us some time to work out, but we figured it out and pushed through. The finale took us longer than it should have, solved about half of it the hard way before looking a little closer and finding an easier approach. Definitely a must play.

An opportunity to explore the ruins of a mysterious cathedral with a disturbing history. Who doesn’t want to do that? The narrative for this game is brilliantly woven into Escaparium’s facility, and the art direction is outstanding. Gameplay is pretty linear but requires quite a bit of teamwork at times. GM interaction is integrated into the environment, and the game is extremely immersive. This game requires a high amount of physicality, but it does have places to sit down. The sound mixing could also be improved; difficulty hearing voices over the music detracted from the overall experience. High scores in production value, immersion, and novelty are offset by the game’s physical demands and sound mixing issues. Final grade. B
Set design, special effects, and props are extraordinarily impressive and immersive.
Escaparium Laval has a fantastic group of employees!

The game is very immersive. Sets and props are outstanding.
The story makes sense within the setting. The third act could be a little stronger, but its weakness doesn't detract significantly from the entertainment value.

Definitely recommend having at least four on your team for some of the team tasks. One space in the game might feel a little cramped with more than six.
Spooky
There are areas that are quite dark and some creepy set pieces but nothing that feels threatening.

Both the story and the setting are pretty dark. I would not take children to play this room.

Metal detectors that were provided did not work well. At least two of the ones they gave us seemed to either be defective or have bad batteries.

Players must climb steep stairs and climb up to and through an opening into another space.
With a large enough group, a player could avoid the climbing requirements, but the player would miss some of the puzzles. There are places to sit down. Much of the game is pretty dark, so if you have older eyes, bring some young people along. Clearly hearing voices over other sounds is an issue. No puzzles require color recognition.

The most unique room I have ever done. The amount of effort into building and creating this room is amazing. The game felt like I was an actual cathedral. 9.6/10

The game-master did a great introduction. I particularly liked the gargoyle (not a spoiler as it is the photo).
