Great and very clever puzzles. Very immersive and fun to do. Smaller room but never felt like there wasn't anything to do.

First off, please note that the owners of this room apparently own 4 others that all have the same rooms. One of them is Greenlight Escape in Wilmington. Upon entering the room my teammate had the sneaking suspicion she had done this room before (at the Wilmington location) and after a few puzzles that was confirmed. The staff also confirmed this after we finished. I asked what the names of the other companies were to make sure we didn’t accidentally repeat again and they both said they didn’t know and that they couldn’t easily find out. So that remains an unsolved mystery. With that out of the way, this room was perfectly cromulent. Scenic value: you are supposed to be in an attic, and beyond some visible ceiling beams there is nothing in this extremely barebones room to suggest you are actually in an attic. There are almost no visual flourishes and anything in the room will be used for a puzzle. The puzzles: although the puzzles had the veneer of thematic relevance, it mostly felt like you were thrown in a room with a bunch of random puzzles that happened to be somewhat spooky/creepy. There are some puzzles that could definitely use more signposting. We played as a group of 2. I’ve done a lot of rooms and my teammate has maybe done a dozen and we set the record for the 3rd best time, without asking for any hints (although two nudges were given to us without asking, an odd choice given that we were moving through the room pretty fast). Part of this also owed to a reset error that left one lock completely unlocked and on the ground. I am very much NOT someone who cares about setting records and generally wants to use up as much of the hour as possible, so we weren’t trying to blast through it. But it is a very linear room and I think any more than three players would be too much. Narrative: it’s the pretty perfunctory but gets the job done. There are a few moments where the room would benefit from reestablishing certain key narrative points, as it’s easily to forget or not even absorb these when delivered quickly by the GM.

The Attic is a really interesting escape room with a few jumpscares thrown in. They are listed as mild but some can be quite startling. The puzzles and room are so well-themed and the story unravels as you play. The basis is that you are off to babysit a child where her last babysitters mysteriously disappeared. A lot of fun, a good medium difficulty level. I would recommend about 2-3 in this room.

Gameplay

more linear, they really nail it with interesting, on-theme puzzles. nothing feels out of place.

Atmosphere

Super creepy and immersive.

Customer service

Staff always are kind and good at keeping track of when hints were needed.

This is one of the better escape rooms in the Triangle - while puzzles lacked some variety since most eventually pointed to a lock, the theme and story were well-embedded into the experience. My sisters accompanied me for this adventure and they had only had negative experiences with escape rooms prior, so this was a nice and enjoyable 'reset' of their expectations. All in all, a fun experience!

I've done plenty of rooms where the puzzles fit the theme, but relatively few where they actively strengthen it. Some puzzles in this room don't just feel like things that would happen in a horror movie; they make you feel like you're in a horror movie. Just a lovely time.

Flowed well, the only issue we had was we didn’t know that ‘they’ played songs. Other than that we got stumped for a few minutes but we’re able to figure everything else out. Good time!

I really, really wanted to like this room. It did have some cool elements in it. Theme was nice, some jump scares and stuff. I just felt like there was no flow to it. We asked for a ton of hints but only because we had no clue what we were supposed to be doing. A couple of those it was our own fault, sure, but I just didn’t feel like anything helped nudge us along.

This was a fun room. It is very spooky with jump scares. There are some cool clues that I haven’t seen in other escape rooms and a very cohesive theme.
