L.A.M.B (Laboratory of Agricultural, Mechanical and Biological Research) has lost contact with one of its most important labs. It has been 3 weeks since HQ last communicated with the staff. Due to the sensitive nature of the lab's experiments, the Special Investigation Team is being sent in to find out what happened. You are the leader of SIT and you and your team must quickly figure out what is wrong at the lab. The research there is very valuable, but also very dangerous. You will need to take every precaution to stay safe. This is how zombie outbreaks start they say.

Potentially unnerving visuals but no real scares. Be careful not to accidentally bump a cabinet door shut! Note: the room is illuminated partially by a slowly flashing light.

Yes

Really liked how puzzles progressed through environmental changes, not just through a bunch of padlocks.

This was a fairly straightforward, single-room game. The set was cool, but I was not a fan of how laminated everything was, even the Band-Aids. A few puzzles were solved through a video, which is just alright. If the theme is enticing, I'd give it a go.

Surprising find in South Tahoe. We did The Estate, which was almost a love, but Sector 9 was a real treat - we had booked Polar Express but due to our own timing issue, we changed to Sector 9, and I'm glad we did! We found it easier than The Estate (despite the supposedly higher difficulty) because the puzzles flowed very well (in The Estate it was hard to know what to do next). The only negative is that it was actually too easy: we got out in 30 minutes with two hints (one of these was a little bit of a logical leap that I don't feel bad needing a hint for; the other was because we couldn't find a very obvious keyhole to put a key into... sheesh). There was a SNAFU in the reset, and a series of locks were not reset correctly, but the GM fixed it quickly and it didn't destroy the overall ambience. Nice family-run business.

Gameplay

This setting has been done 1,000 times, but I still found this one special. The plotline is so clear (unlike in so many other games), and a series of videos you find tells a story that you're uncovering as you go. There's also a really fun prop piece in the game that the owner says came from a previous game they had done, for which Sector 9 is the sequel. Once you know that, it's even more enjoyable.

Atmosphere

Fun prop. Fun small set. Single-room experience, and the space was used very well.

Customer service
Particularly interesting or different

Yes

Nothing overly impactful, but I'll remember the prop piece very well.

Story

Great. Finally a "lab" "antidote" "killer virus" game with a storyline.

Difficulty

Medium

This is supposedly their most difficult game, but the two of us (one is a newbie) were out in 30 minutes.

It was great for 2. Not much room to move around in, but 3 or 4 could work too.

A child could easily contribute to this game. The prop piece could be disturbing to some younger chlidren.

This was the first room that Morty misled me on - there were no bad reviews, but this room felt so disjointed. It felt like it was just a bunch of puzzles thrown together in a pretty simple theme. I also get that stuff happens, but I don’t love asking for a hint and being told “just a minute” or “not sure how to help you here”.
